Who actually likes this guy after the war I certainly don't. This idiot sat there throughout the whole war stopped everyone who tried to save ace (Marco and Luffy), then when ace actually does die because of Akainu he has the Nerve to say he's gonna kill Akainu. I don't get that if Luffy ever meets him again i want him to ignore him or attack him like you would an enemy. I blame him for Ace's death, he used to be a character I actually liked and found funny when he acted stupid like Luffy but now :devil:.

Anyway what do you guys think of him.

I still like him, he wanted Ace and Luffy to be good marines, he was honoured to be a Marine and all and for me it's still one of the best Marine characters. So no I don't hate him, if Ace listened to Garp, he would have not been killed and Garp tried to kill Akainu

Garp is not the one to blame, he already had a beating from Dadan anyway

Garp is a marine, he acted like a marine would, imo he believed in WB's strength and thought ace was going to be rescued. So when Akainu killed ace his emotions got the better part of him.

He's conflicted between his duty as a marine and his loyalty to his family, so even when he tried to stop those from protecting Ace he still did care for him, Akinau killed Ace has pure provocation which angered Garp and made White Beard beard, one shot that admiral :lmao:. Even when Ace was on the execution stand, Garp still tried to pep talk him so he wouldn't be extremely depressed, Garp is the prime example of a man torn between his duty to his work and his duty to his family, I like Garp to be honest but he's pretty brutal, but likable especially his weird antics.

Garp coudn't really have saved Ace. The whole morale of the marines would've shattered had he turned against them possibly leading to their defeat at MF. He was the hero of marines and most of them look up to him. And it's not like it's wrong to support the marines for garp, no matter how much more you like the pirates, we all know the OPworld would be in a state of chaos if there were no marines. Besides it was Ace's Own fault he got killed, not Garp's. He never told Ace to become a pirate or to go after BB alone or whatever he did that got him killed.

Death from other death differ. To be beheaded by World Government is something Garp would accept it to his sons/grandsons. Unlike seeing them getting killed in such situation so harsh and humiliating. Garp sticks to his believes, but he works out his family over World Government by some way. Such as selfish as it looks. Things go out of control, and Garp sees Ace getting killed by ruthless person as Sakazuki.

To call Garp coward it's your opinion, but understand and define coward. Because such fearless person to call him coward it would be mistake in expressing. Not finding the right word to describe a man who is lost between duty and family, and which comes first.

I like him... or should I say, my fav. Marine from OP...

He's bound to his duty yet Ace was his family... It's actually pitiful that despite being there he couldn't do anything for him...
He wanted him to be a marine but it was his decision that got him on the execution platform...

P.S. Garp believed that WB would rescue Ace and they actually did, things got messed up when Akainu went to personally carry out the execution which wasn't his act to do... That made Garp angry and he had to be help down or Garp and WB would have banged the sh!t out of him... Well, WB did some though... LOL

actually it was ace's fault that he got killed.
1.garps the man who rescued him and secretly raised him without telling the world goverement dreaming of a bright future for him at marines.but ace decided to go against the advice of garp and become a pirate.
2.ace was the one who ran after BB despite being told by WB pirates to not to wich resulted in his capture.
3.ace was told many times by marco and others not to engage akainu but he did making the whole war and WB's death purposeless.

it was ace who fakd up.garp's the man who made sure ace survived,no one else in the whole world would have done that since he is the son of the pirate king.ace owed his life to garp.garp's no coward.
