The worldwide sales figures are in for week one of Batman: Arkham City which show that an impressive 4.6 million units have sold:

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment today announced that Batman: Arkham City™, the critically acclaimed videogame developed by Rocksteady Studios, has shipped more than 4.6 million units worldwide since its October 18 North American launch on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.

The week one sales figure for Batman: Arkham City is more than double the number of units sold of Batman: Arkham Asylum in the same time period and solidifies the game's place as a contender for one of the top-selling titles of 2011. Additionally, the game currently stands as the highest reviewed PS3™ and Xbox 360 game of 2011 on Metacritic.com with average scores of 96 and 95 respectively.

"Batman: Arkham City is one of the best action adventure games, proven by the tremendous reviews, and it further establishes the Batman brand as a marquee franchise for our growing business," said Martin Tremblay, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "Rocksteady Studios went above and beyond in delivering an incredible game and the support of the entire team at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment drove the excellent campaign a game like this deserves."

"The true test for any game is what the players think and we have been thrilled by their reaction to Batman: Arkham City," said Sefton Hill, Game Director at Rocksteady Studios. "The team at Rocksteady put every ounce of effort into making the best Batman experience we possibly could, so we are overwhelmed by the incredible feedback from the community."

Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players flying through the expansive Arkham City – five times larger than the game world in Batman: Arkham Asylum – the new maximum security "home" for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds. Featuring an incredible Rogues Gallery of Gotham City's most dangerous criminals including Catwoman, The Joker, The Riddler, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, The Penguin, Mr. Freeze and many others, the game allows players to genuinely experience what it feels like to be The Dark Knight delivering justice on the streets of Gotham City.

Batman: Arkham City is based on DC Comics' core Batman license and rated "T" for Teen by the ESRB. The game is currently available on Xbox 360 and PS3™. The Games for Windows version will be available beginning Nov. 15, 2011. Fans can visit for more information about the game.

Yeah, I got the badass Steelbook Version right here. Only need to find all Riddler Trophies to fully complete it and then redo it.

Defo Game of the Year.

Already finished with the story ? Is the game short ( Story wise ) or something ?

In interview i heard that it'll take a good 20+ hours to complete the it.

I'm playing it now and I love it.
As for GOTY....its easily in the top 3. Skyrim and Uncharted are also in the top 3 right now. Uncharted also got a 10/10 and everyone expects the same for Skyrim so it'll be a really close call this year.

Yeah, the Problem is I don't have a PS3 so I never really played Uncharted but I heard it's awesome - and from what I saw, I totally agree with you.

As for Skyrim, punch me but Oblivion was never my kind of game so I can't judge that either but like above - from what I saw, I totally agree with you.

But Batman Arkham City is definitely my Game of the Year. :)

Huge Spoilers - Don't open if you don't know that special something about Harley Quinn.
Since she got Pregnant in Arkham Asylum (Pregnancy test was lying right next to her old costume in AC) and at the end of the credits she sang "Hush little baby, don't you cry - Mama's going to destroy the whole damn wolrd." or something like that which means that she already has the kid.

~> I can't wait for the Sequel.

Well not many liked Oblivion when they first tried it (including me) because we found it boring and complicated at first. But just like anime, we gave it a shot(so addicting) and Oblivion won multiple awards the year it came out, including GOTY.
I don't have a PS3 yet either but I've played Uncharted 2 and it was incredible. Arkham City is my favorite game for right now until I get Skyrim :D

Btw... I clicked the spoiler tag anyway.....FUUUUUU

Haha yeah but I don't really like RPGs in general, that's why I never tried it.
Understandable. RPGs take a lot of patience and thinking. But they do have the highest replay value and take most of the time out of your social life xd
Which is why on 11/11/11, you guys won't see much of me on this site anymore....as well as I may not show up for work......U_U

I completed the main story in two days - Probably about 9h ingame time (Catwoman inculded). And I already finished every side missions - That would make about 14h or something like that? I still need to collect all Riddler Trophies, that's going to be a pain in the ass.

Easily, the best Batman game ever and the game of the year.

I cannot wait until Robin and Nightwing DLC! I still have alot to do though. I love how my favorite characters get the main parts in this glorious game.

Also, the ending was so sad. I really felt sorry for
The Joker.

Skyrim will also have the most hours put into it. 300+ hours and extended DLC. Gonna kill the social life.
