Why the **** isn't sound working on my Linux mint 9 Fluxbox? There's nothing wrong with my speakers, the sound works just fine on Windows ( installed next to linux ) and there's nothing wrong with the settings.

Just for some reason, sound only works after I complete updates for my computer.

What soundcard are you using?

aplay -l

Is you card found? (as root do)

lspci -v

First check your levels:

alsamixer

Is the module for your card being loded?

lsmod
