I'm not arguing against something so obvious. While Gai may not have had made direct contact, he made indirect contact, far stronger than what wind would be generated through a punch. Go ahead and try in real life to knock a cup over with a punch that doesn't make contact, and then try to knock that cup over by punching another cup in front of it. Obviously one will work while the other doesn't.

Regardless, even if Madara didn't have Truth-Seeking Spheres, he still kills Gai. Sage Art: Storm Style: Light Fang instantly slices him in half, only requiring the mouth to point and aim, Limbo snaps his neck without him even realizing what happened, and visual techniques instantly put him to sleep. Of course Gai is very powerful, but he's a bad match-up for Madara.

During the fight I beleive it was Minato that commented that Madara has to focus on defending due to the sheer speed of Gai's attacks leaving him no room to attack. Madara on Gai's opening attack also stated that Gai was bending space and the air around him. And Even with Rinnegan and his Godlike tracing(Displayed against the Shinobi Alliance.) He could not keep up with Gai and was Paralyzed by the Evening Elephant(Which Gai couldn't complete due to previous strain) and Madara even said that if he would have landed the full combo it would have been bad or a direct hit.

Minato never said that about Gai and JJ madara moves faster than Gai, if not for kamui opening up the sphere gai wouldn't of broke it. Madara could've detonated the gudodamas and gudodamas are known for erasing objects too. Like Minato's kunai knife.
Madara's limbo was faster than rsm naruto yet somehow slower than Gai? That doesn't make sense.

Gai has the speed to evade Goudoudamas.


And Stop denying it. Gai can generate enough power to break Goudoudama.

Haha, hell no. What makes Gai so special that he can touch gudodamas and no one else can? It's not like he has rikudou chakra.

8Th gate Gai could've killed the Madaras before if he wanted, like, edo (would've been useless without sealing tho) or the naked versions.

Ultimately tho, it's true that Gai's success come from his allies, but alone, he still pressured Madara enough to force him to pull the "**** u im in a bubble" method and then gave him one hell of a fight and nearly killed him, whatever fight Madara had since he was resurrected or, hell, since edo, Gai gave him the hardest.

So, it's undeniable that there's much badassery but let's not forget that teamwork was an important case here.

Eight Gate also works at close range combat. If Madara didn't test Gai the battle would have been over with just Limbo. And if Gai didn't have help then TSBs would have done the job.

Gai was helped by Minato, Gaara and Kakashi, Madara used only gudoudama, and yet Gai he lost against him.

Gai can defeat Madara by himself, for sure, he didn't because plot.

With the 8th Gate he can easily dodge Gudodama (he already outspeeded them with 6th Gate or even lower Gates when he intercepted them to help Kakashi) and he can literally move freely in the air. With Sekizo used as an air cannon without direct contact he can break them.

And Madara is completely defenseless against Night Guy, he couldn't make in time to use Rinbo. But he survived Gai's taijutsu because Gai attacked him aiming the kick to the chest, destroying half of his body: had Gai aimed at the head, Madara would have died on the hit, like Madara himself admitted.
