Gaara's actually a good counter for the Uchihas. His sand can cover his eyes and prevent genjutsu, he can create more eyes from sand to do his seeing for him and presumably get rid of them as soon as they're caught in genjutsu, he countered Madara's Susanoo, and he countered MS Sasuke's Amaterasu. Outside of MS jutsu, not much in Sasuke's arsenal can get to him, and Itachi has even fewer attacks outside of MS jutsu. Gaara mid-diffs both.

Susanoo arrows plows clean through his flemsy sand shield especially since he sand wont get big enough in time to block also sasuke can use multiply at a time kakashi who has much better reaction feats than gaara could not move a muslce amaterasu 1 shots him aswell spawn sand is to slow flight is useless via hawk Sasuke ration varients piece clean throug his sand then its Kirin GG Sasuke just overwhelms him.
