I believe that genjutsu is categorized as close-range due to close range being the most effective for it to work. Doesn't necessarily mean that genjutsu cannot be used outside this range. I know sasuke did it and didn't shikamarus dad say something about itachi having the ability to pretty much genjutsu snipe outside the range of sensors?

I'd say Gaara wins if it wasn't for Gamabunta. Minato would summon it and have it use Toad Oil Bullet, weakening Gaara's sand. Minato could kill himself with Shiki Fujin, and since Itachi would be alive that would mean their team wins. Itachi's finger genjutsu could trap Gaara as well. Those are the only three things the have on Gaara though.

Outside of that, Gaara wins. Gaara's chakra infused sand is fast enough to block Minato's shunshin blitz since it was fast enough to stop Ay, who has a superior shunshin. Gaara is the perfect counter to Minato's Hiraishin, as his ability to alter the terrain will disrupt the placement of Minato's FTG kunai, meaning Minato can never warp where he wants to. Minato can only warp what he or his chakra touches, and I don't see how he's going to touch an entire desert or connect his chakra to it without some medium. Minato also lacks the power outside of Gamabunta to even touch Gaara.

Gaara's sand can block line of sight with Itachi, which would prevent Amaterasu from tagging him and stop him from falling to Tsukuyomi. Sand sensing also means he doesn't even need to look in Itachi's direction. Flying on his chakra infused sand, which is incredibly fast, would allow him to evade Totsuka and Yasaka Magatama. Gaara could easily sink him beneath the desert. The only thing Itachi would have going for him is his finger genjutsu that Gaara cannot stop and has no feats of breaking a genjutsu of that level.

is sasori not allowed to dip all his weapons in poison before going into a battle?

minato used a seal without having a warning about tobi's invasion, he didnt need any prep before going to fight kyuubi and tobi

next you may say that minato is not allowed put his cloak before going to fight or he is not allowed to put seals on his kunais

Summons are restricted. Garra never stopped one of ay's blitzes. Guillotine drop is gravity based. Even with that considered the most impressive body flicker comes from minato when he went from 1 side of the village to the other and then proceeded to exit the village to use food cart destroyer and save the 3rd from a tbb.

They are only linked when the bunshin is dispelled/destroyed. Funnily enough, once the bunshin is dispelled, the genjutsu is over and can never link back to the original.

Itachi's Utaka (Finger Genjutsu) is also Short-Ranged. Gaara avoiding such tactics as being blitzed via Genjutsu would be no problem at all, due to his versatile aerial fighting-style.

Daisan no Me prevents it they way you explained it. I don't see difference in going long-range combat personally and using a long-range, enhanced vision tool. Measuring that distance analysis you have created, we can assume that the Third Eye has much more distance from the surface than the requirement of distance that Itachi needs/uses. Also, if I remember correct, the vision resembles more of a fish eye.
Fish eye is more of a an inaccurate, tremendously less-powered telescope, which would mean Gaara can still keep them in his sight.
