Gaara - the third main character?

Gaara is far away from Main charakter as Manga started we was represented with 4Charakters(Team7).....

gaara have connections to each of the original team 7. naruto because of his jin status, sakura because she reminds him of his caretaker, sasuke because of their past hatred.. gaara even teared for sasuke in the anime, was that canon?

Actually, I don't see a problem with this. Any character could have been the 3rd one. Its just that some pink haired girl got picked instead of him.

But Gaara doesn't have a part in the story for a solid 300 chapters, nor is he mentioned in those 300 chapters. Probably more than 300 actually.

All characters other than a main character or characters are side characters from Literary perspective. So, given Naruto's context, only Sasuke and Naruto are main characters, no one else. All characters' have importance and plot value secondary to them. In fact, if one considers the Core development, Sasuke is the main character in that regard. Had the manga not delved into Naruto's past, the manga - from literary perspective - despite being called Naruto, would have pushed him to the secondary status itself.

I still consider Sasuke to be more relevant, given that even Naruto's development has happened because he was always the key instrument. It's only with this destiny logic that Kishimoto has tried hard to squeeze him in.

Kakashi has easily been more important throughout the series than Sakura, and a hell of alot more important during the war arc.

Kakashi is the third main character.

Hell even Tsunade is more important and developed than Sakura.

Sakura is a supporting character.
