Gaara - the third main character?

Ever since Part 1, Gaara has been one of the main characters, personally for me, but for the story as well. I think that Gaara is the third main character, after Naruto and Sasuke. If we sum Part 1 up, only 5 of the 9 seasons are canon, and Seasons 2 and 3 are pretty much all about Gaara. 2 of 5 seasons, and beside that he had some appearances in the other seasons! In Part 2 his screen-time isn't that much, but once again he was the main man in the opening season of Shippuuden. Not to mention that since the Five Kage Summit up until now, he's been included in most of the chapters during the war. I started to think about him like that ever since the Chunin Exams, when he fought Naruto and Sasuke, I started to compare them and stuff and while it's true that he's currently weaker than Naruto and Sasuke, he's still the third most important character in the manga. I liked how Kishi transformed one lost in the darkness psycho into one of the main supporting characters, made him Kazekage and clearly Naruto's second best-friend, beside Sasuke. Gaara's character is awesome, agree with me?

I didn't say that he's one of the strongest, lol. I see that people compare him with the other Kage, with Madara, Obito, Hashirama, Kakashi... No, I didn't mean that. It doesn't matter if he's weaker than those characters, Sakura is also weaker, but some of you count her as the tritagonist, right? Gaara is the third most important character for me, and one of my favorites.

Nice and logical list. But I would put Kakashi and Sakura at the same level.

Since Lee could damage him back in Part 1 because of his speed, I can, kinda believe you about Ay, but current Gaara is stronger than Part 1 Gaara, also, how is Mei going to defeat him? With lava? Acid mist maybe? Gaara can use his sand to protect him from the lava, and he can fly away ON his sand, to avoid the mist. Mei is weak in one-on-one, but with support, she can be very dangerous opponent. I believe Gaara can take her down easily if she's alone.

Sabaku Sotaiso = bye, bye Katsuyu. Not to mention what will happen if Gaara fights alongside Shukaku. Gaara > Sakura and Gaara > Tsunade, you can't really prove me wrong about this one.
