Oh, and for all this 'long range' talk, ppl u do know Deidara is long range? Yet he was pwned by Itachi in 1 hit through genjutsu.

Sasuke matched Itachi's shuriken, does that mean his shuriken are amaterasu levels of speed(which is what Gaara's sand is since it could block Amaterasu) a blind spot is where one can't see, usually at the back of the head, Itachi used his skill with shuriken and kunai to blind the each Rinnegan eye by making sure the kunai and shuriken pass through the other eye's blindspot, its more about skill than speed.
Deidara was close range when he fought Itachi, it was his own fault. Gaara has shown to be intelligent enough to fight a Sharingan user from a distance(as seen with Madara) and has gotten info from Onoki not to look into their eyes.

O M G. Short range long range doesnt mean sht. All that means is the jutsus maximum range. Just becuase gaara has a long range attack doesnt mean that he will only use it at long range. He will be in a close enough parameter for itachi to hit him. Short range attacks and long range attacks or fighting styles can be worked around. Itachi uses other mves other than sasunoo. As i stated before. You say gaara is a long range fighter but rock lee was able to catch him in his short range hidden lotus technique, thus long range and short range have no bounds in a fight. Also what makes u think that Gaara sand speed matchs that of instantaneous generation? The black flame does not move it appears. The black flame is not thrown. By your reasoning becuase during the kage summit Gaara BLOCKED the Black Flame, then any object placed at the right point that gets hit by any object is faster than the object. To be as fast or faster than something it must be dodged. Not blocked or hit but dodged. You cannot judge gaaras sand speed becuase it happend to block the flames. Understand this if im walking into the middle of an intersection and i get hit by a car coming at 100mph im not faster than that car. Gaara sand moved in the way of sasukes target so it got targeted but that doesnt make it faster than the flame. Gaara is by no means dumb or weak but a couple of people on this thread overrate him he is not stronger than itachi. IF anything he is 1 tier below itachi. Gaara does not move in his fights and how would gaara fight someone if he is unable to look at them thats why fighting uchiha is dangerous. gaaras thrid eye will be worked around all irachi has to do is destroy it. Also the possiblity of gaara just pulling itachi from under sasunoo is highly unlikely. When gaara pulled madara from under his sasunoo his sand was moving fast and madara was distracted by 4 other ninja. Without distraction madara would have evaded that attack. Thats why it is necsessary for the target to be distracted. You also underestimate the genious of itachi, he was able to figure out nagatos weakness and get shuriken to nagatos only blind spots and save naruto from getting raped. If you read the remeber what was stated about the black flame was that it could not be exinguished. So gaaras sand can become fuel for the flame and it wuld just eat at his sand. Also my assumption about all sharingan since kakashi can do it is that they can recreate any jutsu used against them that isnt part of a kekegenkai. So any jutsu that itachi has ever saw that he feels is suitable can be used against gaara.

lol even in the desert Gaara couldnt beat him... Itachi is a battle genius (same level as Shikamaru and Minato) and has a ton of abilities on his side for instance his water clones would just kill the sand and then hed kill Gaara

Also Itachi has his weakness to, he has a disease and is severely weaken and drain after each use of his MS abilities and he would die if he push himself to far. Gaara can easily lock himself in a sand shield(ball) in the air, make an eye to see outside the shield and attack Itachi with his sand. Amaterasu was already stop by Gaara sand, being locked in his shield protects him from genjutsus and other attacks, sasunoo will be the dangerous part but Gaara will have a sea of sand so can wrap it around sasunoo to limit its mobility and fill the inside of sasunoo with sand then... Sand coffin!!!. Just because a character is strong and can beat most doesn't mean they can't be beat. For example in part 1 sasuke beat Naruto, lee beat sasuke, neji beat lee and Naruto beat neji. If sasuke was stronger than Naruto and lee stronger than sasuke and lee can't beat neji then how did Naruto if he's weaker than sasuke or lee? Reason is every ninja fights differently and it can mean victory in some fights and defeat in others. Gaara has great defense and has ways around many of Itachi's attacks but the same goes to Itachi. If you're talking comparing Itachi you can't forget his disease or the after effects from using his MS jutsus.

I'm referring to when Sasuke blatantly fired three Amaterasu at Gaara and Gaara blocked with sand. This happened after Gaara separated him and Raikage.
