As you gather charka into your palm, start to channel the gathered chakra into your finger tips. Force all the gather chakra into your palm into your finger tips. This should cause your fingerstips to burn and give off a dark purple coloring.

Start again.
If you don't let the chakra pool first in the palm, and let it rush directly to the fingers they will implode the chakra receptors in your fingers. Forever disabling you the use of ninjutsu ever again.
