fuuton is the wind element, it is the rarest of the five elements, it is created by sharpening and thinning the chakra. in the case when naruto learned manipulation, it was achieved achieved by learning how two split a leaf. fuuton combines the brute force and precision that is in the wind element to cut and slash.
two users of wind are temari and asuma, temari utilize fuuton is a way like described above, while asuma has been shown to use it to strengthen the cutting power of his ninja tools.
the weakness of the the wind element is fire, and it is strong against lightning. when combined with a fire technique, it increases the strength of the technique, when combined with a water technique, it increases its concussive powers.
wind and water has been shown to produce a keikei genkai known as the ice release.
one of the ways I would use it to my advantage in battle is to use its power to restrict movement, by using large blast of wind that has a wide range, with this, I don't have to directly aim for the opponent, as long as it's in their direction. should it succeed, it gives me time to get out another attack, and gives the opponent less time to dodge it, I can also cut distances between me and the opponent like this. and it also works the other way, if fighting in a terrain in whcih their are trees, I can pull back to give distance by going backward and utilize its cutting powers to cut down the trees in case of a relentless pursuit.

I then imitate this with my chakra that is running through the leaf, stabilizing it and making it into the two blades I see in my mind*

Description: The user creates a gust of wind that layers an area in loose sand and dust. Doing so also acts as a sandblaster on the surrounding area. This layer of sand that accumulates on the trees during this technique makes it difficult for others to get a good footing. The initial gust can also temporarily blind opponents by lodging sand in their eyes
Focus your wind chakra in your lungs and blow it into the air and manipulate it to create a gust of wind to blow around sand etc.

*I feel the wind blowing all around me, as the wind touches me, the sensation calms me as I feel it throughout my entire body, I then begin to mold my chakra imitating the wind around me until my chakra provides the same sensation inside me as the wind outside me, as I feel calm inside and out, I focus all this chakra into my lungs, and then inhale compacting all the wind in my lungs and ready to release it all in one blow. I then exhale forming it into a gust of wind that blows around all the sand and debris**
