Coming from
here.
Madara knew he arrived in Fuging long before the signs alerted them; only here could
As expected, there were sharp looks at them as they walked through the village. Madara knew word had already reached the village before they did and people were apprehensive to him and his rule and even more probably wanted him dead. After all, he had just killed their Kage and waltzed into their home and was about to take her seat. Madara looked at the people before him, wondering what they had planned before he got there. Booby trapped the Kage Office? Remote Genjutsu laying dormant in the war chamber? Perhaps a group of trained solders in the office waiting? Madara smiled a little as they walked, the idea of battle exciting him. He hadn't had a real fight in some time and though he had to demod the mysteries of the staff, he knew he also needed to groom this village properly as both a home and a base to operate from. Madara wondered if they had began to desert the village before he arrived but this was their home, their lives were already rooted here. Perhaps they understood what they stood to gain with Madara as their leader, him creating new paths for them to take and prosper with.
As they moved, he noticed a slowly growing crowd of people near and around him, standing far enough back that he almost didn't recognize it. He communicated this to Akujin whose eyes also scanned the street quickly, noting there to be armed men within the crowd. He pointed out there were 5, maybe 6 potential targets and the road they were traveling on curved into a left turn and becomes a dead end at a newly created monument to Daenerys and her dragons.
Madara slowly stopped moving, eyes watching the statue. It stood at least 3 times his own size, shadowing over him. Turning to see the crowd that followed, Madara saw that they too had stopped. After a brief moment, he realized they were waiting on him to speak.
"Hmm. As you may already know, I'm Madara Uchiha. I would get into details but you already know why I'm here so I'll make this as direct as possible. I killed Daenerys Targaryen and have taken the mantle of Tekikage as my own, intent to rule Tanigakure as my village."
As he spoke truth to the rumors, the crowd quickly burst into rapid whispers amongst themselves. Eyes darted back and forth as the voices became louder, anger setting in.
"My reasons for doing so are numbered, ranging from being my ancestral home to locating old friends such as Kuvira, the most important ones being the neglect of the citizens needs and the expansion of the village. Under her rule, the village has become complacent. No, it has actually shrunk in both size and worth; the Tanigakure name means nothing in the world like it once did. Villagers have deserted the land, condemning her and her inability to act. Cattle go unfed, workers without proper wage. Look amongst you and ask yourself a true question: Who has been in a better position since Queen Daenerys came to be? Who has more wealth, better health, or even peace of mind?
"Daenerys is a friend of my close friend Kuvira and others, but even they could not deny your military power has decreased. You have been unable to cultivate the minds of the new generations of ninja being raised, allowing them to stagnate and underachieve. No, Daenerys might have been kind but she was not the leader this village deserves."
"And you are?" Someone deep in the crowd spoke up, causing mutters of aggreance.
"...no, I'm not. That can only come from one of you, later down the line. I'm the Kage the village needs. One who will rule with might and guide this village back into dominance. One who will actually be actively engaged with you. One who will show the world exactly who Tanigakure is."
Madara paused as his words were being absorbed by them. Akujin could see the crowd weighing the words, deciding if Madara was what they actually needed now.
"I do not wish to keep any who don't want to be here prisoner. If me being your new Kage doesn't appeal to you, you are free to walk out those gates right now and leave. I will not stop you. However, if you stick with me, you will gain more power than you could think possible. Enough wealth that your future grandchildren will still own lands across the sea. Help me raise Tanigakure back to its former glory."
After he spoke, some of the crowd hesitated before turning to leave. Men who held swords previously threw their weapons down while most of the crowd stayed, accepting his words and him as their next Kage. Akujin complimented him on winning the group over, assuming he was going to just put them into Genjutsu to force them to br obedient. Madara told him that you didn't have to lie or cheat people over all the time. Warfare didn't always get handled by deception and battle. Sometimes, diplomacy went a long way.
After a while of discussions on both sides on what the village needed, the crowd began to disperse as their concerns were heard and they left with better feelings towards Madara, their Tekikage. A few remained behind, perhaps to speak to him directly.
