lol that's a good way to put it, I suppose. xd

but our purpose can also be fueled by our wants, not necessarily our needs. Humans feel the need to have a purpose, but what's wrong with just enjoying the moment and going all out?

We should get into group selection and gene selection to discuss this matter.

Actions cause reactions of course, you have to take the responsibility for your decisions...that's one of the basic ideas of existentialism.

And thats why with freewill....comes responsibility.

You bear the consequences even if a decision was not made solely on your 'free' will...But yeah if you make a decision on your own, it's called responsibility.

but we can't do whatever we want, because if we could do anything, then we would be god.

exactly, the world and the limitations it sets up is what sways our hand to make certain choices.

When we see we are attracted to someone, we can't make the choice to not be attracted to them because it's our body making that choice for us and not our will.

I agree with you to an extent, but decions and choices are based upon freewill. You may not have the choice to make a decision, but u have the freewill to not make that decision, but suffer the consequences.

Well obviously you dont have freewill in every single aspect in life, something s are just out of our control, but who knows maybe if we used more percentof our brain we could achieve more and use ourfree will even to a higher extent?

Not making a decision is also a decision:p For example, not going to the elections and not voting is also a decision.
well yeah , but then we would be talking about another subject

Yeah...

Btw, does anyone know Camus? He said that the only real question of philosophy is whether people should commit suicide or not? (He answered of course no, but he said that life has no purpose overall, so we just have to live on, just because)

well as you put it, we don't have control over every aspect in our life. Making the term free-will irrelevant.....it would be just will. We will ourselves to move, but we can't move freely since that would mean we can break boundaries.

we can will ourselves to make a decision, but no decision is free to make....that would mean no other factors were applied to that decision and the decision is completely original.

Humans can't create something genuinely original, only interpret something.

Lol but to make a decision takes freewill, for example a bear doesnt have freewill, he lives of instinct.
And never heard of camus, thats a pretty dull way for looking at live, im sure he has his reasons lol :p

Lol like i said before a wild animal doesnt have free will, but since we have the ability to hink we can decide what to do iur selves, which is some form of free will

There are only negative outcomes for choices for those who allow there to be a negative outcome

Say you don't pay your rent and you become homeless..that's a negative outcome because the end of that statement is you being homeless

Free will is what makes half of these bums ask for money on the train everyday

When they can spend 8 dollars on a I'd. Maybe about 15 on birthcertificate..its free for a ss card and then use that to get a job

That is the true essence of free will. No matter what the outcome is you still have a choice to do something different as long as your alive.

Just one thing: you can't kill yourself by holding your breath. So if something, then breathing is really not something you do by free will.

but we are thinking up a decision because of something that puts us in a situation to make a choice.....then we make our decision based on the positives and negatives of the outcome, making the decision not entirely free.

Well thats because we also live by instinct. Basic instinct to breathe eat sleep reproduce.animals also do this, but thats all they do.But we have a further power then animals, we are humans capable of intelligent thought and have the free will to make decisions.

that's not free will....because outside factors dictate one's choices, making the choice not one's own to make but influenced by something else.
