Let's say when you were out for awhile away from home, you're whole family was massacred by a serial killer and when you got back, you just couldn't imagine the devastation he has caused to your whole family. This murderer cannibalized your family (meaning eating them)

Let's say the mass murderer was finally caught and with your help, he was sentenced to death row. He meets a priest and that priest led him to a sinner's prayer in which he ask God to forgive his sins. Now the serial killer said that he had truly repented and is now asking you for his forgiveness.

Here's the question: Will you forgive him or not?

Well, still, it's kind of hard. Actually, it's nearly impossible for a lot of people. It would really depend a little more than on what level of (insert religon here) you're on. This kind of thing goes past religon. While the bible says that forgiveness is the correct choice, that doesn't make it much less difficult to do so.

@ first post: I'm the type of person who really doesn't really feel right making a choice of something like this until I'm actually put into that situation (though of course I hope that I'm never am). So I'd have to be undecided on that.

Nah, I don't think I would. Though it may seem rather crude, it's natural. Someone's eaten your loved ones sure as f*** I'm not going to forgive him.

I would forgive him, but a lot (and I mean a lot) of people would find it hard to do so...nearly impossible. The reason I would be able to is because I was able to comprehend the mind and heart of a human soul through many intent years in my past of studying human behavior and observing the philosophical nature of emotion. And, holding hatred and strife towards one person for the rest of my life is too painful a burden for me, personally, to bear. I mean, it's not like I'm gonna become best friends with the guy, but I would forgive him.

I'm naiive? No.you cannot generalize about people unless you know who they are, and since you don't know my mind, then don't speak as if you are the harborer of thought, cause you are not. And besides, he was truly sorry anyway, so therefore forgiveness is possible.

I don't care how you would handle it...it's up to you, not me. Personally, I would not want to live the rest of my life holding a grudge against somebody. It's just how I deal with things. If you don't handle it that way, it's fine with me. But don't malign others for not going about it the way you would.
