Im not too familiar with Pavlov.. but basically he was a physiologist who studied digestion and salivation in dogs.

"Classical conditioning" is what he was known for.

Dogs would salivate in response to food or things that they relate to food. Such as when he would feed them he would ring a bell and when he rings the bell without food they would still salivate. Or since HE feeds them they would salivate when they see HIM.

Its hard to understand so I dont bother much

Oh... i guess you learn something new everyday

I got all of them EXCEPT 9, 10, 12, 13, and 14.

I actually laughed at 15. Not sure if I should be proud of that.

Engineering is very hands-on, Math is basically purely theoretical. So in this case, "practical purposes" means he's going to do something "hands-on" ( ;) ) with the girl, as opposed to the mathematetician who is only concerned with the theory of approaching her (you can divide any number besides zero infinitely) :p

Ahh I get it, thx :hooray:

I don't know what a logician so I don't get 3 and 8 .-. I mean, I know it has something to do with using logic, right? But I'm still puzzled by it.

Edit: never mind, I think I got it. To 8, it is a boy or a girl.

I kinda am still confused on three.

The Pavlov one was hilarious. I didn't get the Chemistry one though.

I think it's because a plumber would pronounce it union-ized (like the word union; to come together) while a chemist would read it un-ionized. At least, that's what I think.

Got 1, 2, 7, 8, 17, 19 and 20 off the bat.

Does that make me average?

Edit: Just got 3

Lmfao, look at this thread. 'For the intellectuals only'. No one person on NB is an 'intellectual'. Didn't realise people on here were so self-absorbed. If an intelligent person knows something, it's that they're terribly stupid.

They were okay, but I don't see how these can't be understood by any person who has been put through a decent education system?

I really like 4, 5, 14, 15 are my favorite. Especially 14 since I'm in the psychology field right now. Realized: Why is thread for "intellectuals only?" Everyone's free to post.

I have to admit, 14 was quite witty.

No...

Like any person who has studied psychology, I thought of Classical Conditioning.
