Level 1
Teleportation to a stationary object in the form of either a kunai or marked seal
Level 2
Teleportation to a moving object that is either a travelling kunai or a marked opponent
However, there are two glaring issues:
Kunai can be blocked
You must be registered for see links
You must be registered for see images
(I know the picture shows shuriken but the point is still the same)
This is to:
Stop Minato from teleporting near you
Create a distance between you and Minato so as to severely limit his speed
Granted he won't throw the kunai
You must be registered for see links
, but you can still thwart the path of the ones headed towards you. And stop them from landing behind you. This way you'd only need to be cautious of attacks originating in front of you
You can prepare a defense
Ex.
You must be registered for see links
You must be registered for see images
This is to:
Avoid being tagged
Defend against an attacking kunai or Rasengan
You can anticipate
FTG requires hand seal(s) - so monitor his hands and react accordingly
He'd obviously attempt to teleport to the kunai closest to you
Also:
FTG comes with a cost. It still eats your chakra
Minato has a limited supply of kunai
In addition (this is extra, you don't have to read it):

Well said... except for one thing... you're simply assuming that his enemy has such deep knowledge of his jutsu... now tell me would you care a bout a kunai that comes at you with regular speed, easy to dodge... would you care where it lands? if you have no idea what the Kunai serves for...NO
Also where did you read that FTG requires hand seals? never saw it... if it really happened please post the manga page.
So my statements are still valid, no ordinary ninja without an "ultimate defense" or without incredible speed and reflexes would stand a chance.
So please just stop hating on Minato and stop bringing up all the fanboys... it just ruins the character.
How did the 4th create it?
Obviously the only time he used it was against the Kyuubi, so he most likely made it while researching seals and whatnot. As we know, the seal is an even numbered one since we've seen it on Naruto. This means that Minato knew how to balance it so that it could properly seal chakra/ souls.
My guess is it was just made from highly extensive research into seals, or was simply passed down from the generations until it reached Minato, Or maybe it's something they both knew about, but Minato simply had more knowledge of the Jutsu than the 3rd did. Who knows? i think they 3th took it to another level where you did not have to die, if shadow clone's were use, i study the fight between him and orochi and saw that the only reason he died was because his final sealing as himself casting it instead of clone's. but i maybe wrong.(if this is really true Minato committed suicide to die with his wife aww "love". (they must have use clone's to practice's that jutsu anyways) my proof is episode 73
It's a spin off of the Minato thread. Can we just block anything that talks about Minato? He no longer plays much of a role in the series... He's just used as a filler character to explain as Naruto's father and used as a past figure for future plot explanations.
Very nice post!!...and I agree with you...not that Minato is overrated..but with the stopping of talking bout him..your right..nothing more than a filler at this point..
I dont think anyone saying the 4th suck i think the 4th fanboy's and itachi fanboy's just cant put there love for there favorite aside and comment on the ftg tech without fighting over each other comments about the 4th vs itachi and only comment about the ftg Anbu Intel!!!!
in my first reply I did comment on the ftg, that lady gave a scenario in which it was made to seem like the ftg would have ended that fight so fast, I simply gave my input on how it can be stopped, since she used itachi I also used itachi but then some including the guy who was making it seem like the ftg would end the fight in minato's favor kept insisting on that, I even said I don't know who will win between itachi and minato but the ftg isn't invincible, but I kept trying to convince that other guy of the same who ended saying the same thing I was saying from the FREAKING beginning which was the ftg is great but not invincible. read my post and you will see that that's the point I was trying to get across
@captainEO
what u say is true but remember minato wont just throw the damn kunai somewhere where the enemy can see it. remember madara and the raikage even fell for minato's FTG technique. For example, when the present raikage and bee was versing minato, minato planted one of his kunais on bee and nobody noticed, which is how he was able to use bee as a hostage. though bee actually reacted quickly enough to aim at minato as well. but u get the point. u may not hav seen the episode, but it came out in manga if u didnt no.
lol the 4th isnt the only one to ever use time space jutsu ?? All summoning are form of teleportation hanzo teleport away from nagato ftg isnt the only form of teleportation its a fomula place on a kunai that simple Anbu Intel!!! and a pizza a pizza cheese or with pepperoni
I didn't say Minato is the only one, and hanzo did not use s/t he used shunshin, and also if its that simple why isn't everybody running around with one, i beg you look up your facts when trying to be a smartass
Well to me the ftg is a human summoning jutsu that allows the user to teleport to something the seal is place on.Now not to say the 4th isnt the best at it but come on people its a summoning tech thats all there are many form of this seal it seem. The 4th can place this seal on almost anything what makes it the ftg tech is that he can use this seal and his own speed to catch the enemy off guard.Lets say you were to go up against this tech how would you counter it.The weakness would be the seal and your knowledge of dealing with them for block or dodge the object thrown would be a disadvantage or even being touch be the 4th can be deadly so how do you fight do you give up no use your head like a ninja would find different ways to defeat it.In a real fight if the person take away his oppenents speed by staying still no movement you allow him to come to you. With a well place trap like a sealing barrier making a seal useless or sealing the person itself but keep in mind he is the 4th hes not going down quietly ok(for his fan boys)Anbu Intel!!!!!

Good theory, although i doubt it,and the third just had it in his pocket because he knew every jutsu in konoha, and i think it was stated that you need to sacrifice a life for a life, and a clone just doesn't cut it,lol.

Minato was famous so all the elite folks had extensive knowledge on minato's abilities. How do you define an ultimate defense? An ultimate offense could be used as a great defense i.e. pain, and then there are guys who are almost bulletproof like orchimaru, kakuzu and the third raikage, who can tank everything thrown at them, until they figure out how to defeat the enemy. Finally, you have people like gaara and itachi/sasuke who posseses special items/elements, which protects them automatically.
The most important thing to defeat minato is either being prepared,or give yourself enough time to perform/activate your moves e.g. a guy like itachi would need time to get in his genjutsu.
I agree I'm not even a fan of Minatos, he is cool but i would not want his *ick up my ass.....but the thing is there is a ton of strong shinobi who would kick minatos ass in sheer power but the thing is as long as you don't know in detail how the tech works you can't counter it properly for example sasuke had a ton of firepower against bee and A but still he got his ass handed to him y? because power isn't everything and i must say that i acknowledge their strenght, but they couldn't put a finger on minato, FTG isn't perfect not one jutsu is but nobody defeated him ever that is enough for me to accept that it is one of a kind, and as for fanboys who gives a *hit Minato is dead but he did some awesome stuff worth of admiring in his age

Yea that kind of defense i am talking about...
And also i really doubt that there are so many people that got the chance to discover his secret and live on... So far the only one is Tobi and Raikage A.
Usually you should consider the fight that none of them have knowledge of the others abilities otherwise look at what happened at the Naruto vs Pain (those dumb threads keep appearing every week) people start complaining that it was not fair and all that stupid stuff.
Also in a battle you must think about if it is an all out battle (like both of them use whatever they have to finish the other) or if it is a story like battle (like the ones in the manga, where they don't start with their most powerful jutsu but rather play a little)

If you didn't know who Minato was after the war, you'd be extremely stupid.
word of mouth travels quickly. villages would have gathered a lot of information on him
As to the seals, I was wrong, I said that on one of the earlier pages. you'd just have to rely on a different form of anticipation, it can be whatever you choose
