Well um...I watched 483 (ace's last speach basically)...Did not expect this turn of events. I mean, he was freed ok, FREED? Why oda? Why? Why did you have to kill him minutes after he was freed?

I did not cry (lies), I only shed a tear (lies).

Only a few episodes left (I suppose) but man, I can't wait to see how everyone is going to react to that.

The arc has been amazing up to that point though and I can't wait to get to the end of it. From the preview of episode 484, whitebeard looks freaking pissed.

PS: I'm out LOL (haven't read any spoilers in the thread so thanks guys ^^)
BOLD: That's how Oda played his card... i remember when i read that chapter spoiler titled " The Power That Burns Even Fire"
i was like NO !!!!! NO!!!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow this arc never ceases to amaze me. First Ace and now, Whitebeard. Honestly if someone was to die in this arc, he was the most likely but man, 2 major deaths in the same arc? That's quite unheard of if you ask me (well at least in the anime/manga I watched/read).

I only have like 3 episodes left in this arc (I'm at 486), is there anything that will amaze me like that?

BTW, whitebeard's death, while sad was freaking badass ^^

I see why people like this arc so much man.

Can't wait to watch the rest.

You can clearly see that oda put so much work into not only this arc but the build up to it. The summit war saga as a whole was great and I did not find any arcs to be boring at all. Even amazon lily, while quite chill, was perfectly fine.

Blackbeard is on a whole new level man, 2 devil fruit powers, really?

Sorry for the double post but I've finally finished "marineford". Amazing arc from start to finish. Epic fights, tension, great show of strength (if that makes any sense lol), sad moments (I was expecting WB's death at some point but definitely not ace's death).

Overall, a huge turnaround for the one piece universe. A new era of piracy is about to start and I just can't wait.

If I were to make a top 10 arc, this one would definitely be my number 1.

I honestly have no idea why I didn't give one piece a chance back in the days but heh, better late than never.

Hahaha don't worry, bro, you're not the only one who feels the exact thing. MF arc by far is number 1, and supposedly the current arc has the same potential but....not going to spoil you lol. Keep on watching. About Blackbeard, yes, he had 2 devil fruits, to be concluded, as war ended. After this, he went wild & aggressive. There should be ASL flashback episodes right after that, have you watched them?

PS: I'm sorry to hear you shed some manly tears along the way U_U

I've started watching the flashbacks. I'm at the point where they built their secret base (That would be episode 497 I think). Nothing too big for the moment but I like it, it's good to have something rather chill after an arc like this ^^

Sorry to bump this but I just wanted to say that I'm in the "Punk Hazard" arc :)

My short thoughts on the previous arcs + Punk hazard so far

Post-war arc:

A rather chill flashback that took a rather unexpected turn of events. It was enjoyable and sad at the same time. So luffy lost ace in marineford and now, we learn that a similar event happened 10 years (was it 10 years?) prior to the start of the series with Sabo. Although, I'm quite sceptical on sabo's death (well I suppose the viewer is supposed to feel that way). It's not uncommon to survive explosions in shonen so until I see the body, I will not believe what I saw :)

Not to mention that not so long after, we learn that the revolutionaries saved someone that seemed to match sabo's description. (They talk about his face being severely damaged)

Return to sabaody:

Meh, not that great but short so it was ok :)

Fishman Island:

For a first arc in the second half of the series (not counting return to sabaody), this was dissapointing. I heard many bad things about this arc before reading it so my expectations were pretty low but I didn't expect it to be that boring. It felt like a rehash of arlong park (not 100% the same but still, quite similar) and the villains were uninspired. Not to mention that the supposed boss of the arc got defeated rather easily. Don't get me started on that stupid princess by the way...

A few positive things about the arc however:

-We at least got to see the straw hats with their new abilities
-We got to see one of the ancient weapons so I guess that's some slight progression in the story
-We got to see a glimpse of one of the yonko (big mom)
-Hints of future strawhat members?

Punk Hazard:

I've only read volume 67 but it's already better than "Fishman Island". Right of the bat, I got that one piece feeling that I like (the wtfness) and it seems that something crazy is building up. I can't wait to read more of it ^^

Admiral akainu and admiral aokiji are on a whole new level. I never would've thought that their fight would cause an island to have 2 separate and permanent climats.

PS: Law looks cool

Congrats! You're catching up close now.

Yeah, well, i agree, like half of your views lol, so at least you're still following the series. Read? I thought you were watching its anime? Doesn't matter, you can do both. But usually manga is very epic version, since OP anime is pretty average, but still enjoyable. Oh and don't let spoilers get you from this point.

PS: Isn't he? Law has a deep motive layered beneath his action so keep your eyes on him. (-,-)~

Dressrosa will have your mind blown, considering that you're reading it in a huge bulk. I really wanna know your thoughts on dressrosa.

In response to Listz: I am only watching a few arcs in the anime. The sole reason I watched marineford and the post-war arc in anime version was because the volumes for these arcs weren't available yet in the new translation.

You see, in france there are 2 different versions of the One piece manga. The manga was translated in one translation until the volume 66 and because of some legal issue with the official translator, the editor had to re-edit the entire series under a new translation (So far, only volumes 1 through 50 have been re-edited) while the newest volumes (volumes 67 onwards) are being edited under that new translation. I started buying my volumes under the new translation.

Basically, since I was fed up to wait like 2 to 3 months to get to the manga version of marineford, I decided to buy the anime version of it.

However, once I finished the boxsets, I decided to catch up with the manga online (I read fishman Island) and once I reached chapter 656, I switched to the most recent volumes in france (volumes 67-70) which I had already bought in advance lol

I know, this seems very complicated but to make things short: I do prefer the manga version over the anime. Although, I will have to admit, experiencing marineford in anime version was great fun and It looked pretty decent to me :)

Ok, so I've read only 2 chapters of dressrosa so far and oh my, I was not ready for this. Chapter 700 sets the grounds for someting epic, I can feel it. Doflamingo has the mera-mera no mi?! What does he plan to do with it? I can't wait.

Chapter 701: Introduction of what looks to be a bad-ass character. I'll call him the blind man. Dat ending, he created a freaking hole in the ground by just pulling out part of his sword.

Can't wait to read more man, can't wait ^^

Sadly, it will have to wait till tomorrow. I think I've read too much one piece for the day LOL and I still need to get volume 71 which has chapters 701-711 (latest volume here in france).

Good to see your catching up.

It's your opinion but I think u should not brush Fishman Island of as boring that easily (while the fighting part was indeed easy and sort of a cakewalk), it's a pretty informative arc
The Sunpirates gave a nice view on some of the history of the opverse and in particulair the Fishman
Some nice information about Joyboy + another Poneglyph (this is always important)
The great Sea kings who actually show intelligence and have some purpose to fulfill in the overall op plotline, this is
all important foreshadowing.
Than u also have Madama Shyarly vision about Luffy destroying FI, the ship Noah, Poseidon etc..
Alot of information in this arc, I liked it quite a bit tbh

I am official caught up and oh boy, I was not ready for this arc man. Dressrosa is the best arc of part 2 so far but I will not rate it until it reaches its climax. We get to learn more on doflamingo which is very welcomed because ever since he was introduced, he always seemed so enigmatic.

Naruto (free cookie to who finds out why I'm saying this. This is no troll) is revealed to be alive: Not really a surprise since his "death" was kinda fishy and the fact the revolutionary army saved someone which was severely injured got me thinking of the possibility that he survived somehow.

Damn though, this arc is crazy and I am glad I finally caught-up to One piece :)

Can't wait for wednesday ^^

Everyone knew he wasn't dead, people were just surprised that he was introduced this early. Most people assumed he'd be introduced much later on. Yes, this arc is crazy and most arcs from now on should be like that since that the SH's are in the NW. Yeah waiting can be hard though :p

*Gives cookie* This actually has my thinking, are they gonna keep the same seiyu for him when he returns? That would be kinda cool.

Yes, I know, waiting for a new chapter is always painfull. No matter what the series is ^^
