Hello alll, im really bored right now and on spring break, my brother has my explorer in his college town cause were about to get some serious snow and he has a sedan, and that means i am snowed in.

I have only seen DBZ, Yu-Yu Hakusho, Samurai Shamploo, and Naruto. I refuse to start a series like Bleach or One Piece solely because how deep they are in the story. I have been watching Naruto since I was in 6th grade and is probably the last of my childhood and that is the only reason I can say I still am into the series to this day. I probably would not start Naruto out of the blue, but looking at it really I dont think Naruto is that long. Anyway, I'm gonna list anime i have heard of, comments on it, what I would like to know about it, and which one I should start and which one is right for me. Submissions are welcome too.

I wanna touch up on Bleach and One Piece first though. Between the two, I would probably watch Bleach just because it probably is the same length as Naruto and I have heard it is ending soon. Although I am really looking for an anime with good themes to it, like Naruto's, and I feel like One Piece does have that, but I have also heard its ending in like 10 years and I do not have time for that in my life. I don't understand why that is. I watched One Piece when I was younger when they introduced ace and then I stopped and I just cant see myself picking it back up. But I would still like to hear about Bleach and One Piece just cause I know it probably is most like Naruto or comparable storywise due to the large fan base..

Anyway I know of

Magi
Hunter x Hunter
Attack on Titan
Full Metal Alchemist (seen half way through Season 2)
Just heard of Fairy Tail and got to episode 83 but my friend told me I need to watch something else if I am taking my time to watch Fairy Tail

I watched half an episode of attack on titan and i couldnt really stand the animation and the heroes didnt really appeal to me but that cannot determine the series as a whole.

I would like to know about the villains, the powers of the characters, how the fighting and story is, any themes i need to pick up on as the series progresses, what episode each series really picks up on (id say naruto picked up during the chunnin exam finals) length, and how long it could take me to catch up.

I would really like something with a similar story to naruto. like the rival character joins the bad guy type shit. but anything will do especially the mainstream ones i just mentioned

Thank you narutobase.

Monster by Naoki Urasawa the most epic anime ever it has suspense, mystery, thriller, action, some romance, and its also thought provoking.
And if you liked samurai champloo then you have to watch cowboy bebop

Also if you like naruto then hunterxhunter will be exactly what your looking for Since naruto really kinda ripped off hunterxhunter.

If you liked Samurai Champloo then chances are, you'd like Cowboy Bebop as well. Both shows are japanese anime that are directed more towards western viewers; that series was the first to come to mind reading your list.

If you wanna watch Bleach, but don't want to spend forever on it, you could just watch the first (best) arc, and then simply skip a lot of bs, filler, and flashbacks by watching the rest of the fights on youtube.

Also, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood >>> Full Metal Alchemist.

You also might try Rurouni Kenshin, an old school (for my age, anyway) 90's anime that focuses on a super badass and powerful Samurai who has turned a new leaf and has decided to try an help people. Its good because it's one of those stories where the MC starts out very powerful without the need of much training, and then his power is revealed to us over the course of the show. The show's themes deal with old japan and it's slightly political without being too "in your face" about it. Out of 95 total episodes, Rurouni Kenshin is almost half filler, which means the total story is only about 50-60 episodes long.

Or if you want a shoot-em-up action, you may enjoy Devil May Cry. They both have missions, demonic powers (like Naruto), both shows face the tough decision of whether or not to be good or bad (like Sasuke). Basically in this anime, you're supposed to kill demons. And there are good and bad reasons for killing demons, just like how in Naruto there are good and bad reasons for killing ninja

I'm in uni and I was bored last Wednesday so I decided to watch Bleach. I just finished the anime series (fillers) skipped and I must say I love it. It's very enjoyable and the Animation is usually excellent (better than Naruto).

Yeah the people on my floor didn't see me for the next 5 days after I started Bleach.

You should give Blood + a try. Only 50 episodes but well worth it. Cowboy Beebop is defiantly a classic. Code Geass is worth it just for the epic ending.

So here are my 2 favorites

1. Fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood - 64 episodes, probably my favorite ending sequence in all of anime. Really deep and complete story with no plotholes. Great characters, gets pretty dark at times, awesome animation. Anyone who has watched it will tell you the same, I've never heard anyone who completed the whole thing say that they didn't like it. And just so you know, I have never cried from an anime (not trying to be manly, I wish I could cry from movies/tv/anime) but the final episode of this show made me shed a tear.

If you do watch it, MAKE SURE you watch Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. This is the remake that is loyal to the manga, the original one creates its own story.

2. Hunter x Hunter 2011. Again, this one is a remake, so make sure it's the 2011 version.
116 episodes so far, will probably reach around 140-150. Amazing animation, great characters, doesn't follow any of your typical shonen cliches. Awesome fights (the gif in my sig is from the show). It seems very childish for the first arc or two but it gets crazy awesome from the 3rd arc and doesn't stop from there. IMO it is the best written Shonen out there, no BS powerups or asspulls. Also it is very strategic, everything they do makes perfect sense, I can't really explain it, but if you watch it you'll figure it out. Also the main character seems pretty typical, but at the current arc, hes completely different than he was at the beginning.

Wow, probably the most love for Bebop I've seen from this site. lol

Yeah, that one's a must-see regardless of what other anime you enjoy (and seeing it dubbed is also a must). Some others that weren't mentioned yet:

- Durarara!! (someone already said Baccano!)
- Steins;Gate (personal #1 and possibly the best thriller in the medium)
- Mushishi (probably won't appreciate it as much as I did, but it is a beautiful anime)
- Eden of the East (short and sweet, but you gotta watch the films, too)
- Clannad (might not like the genre, but it's a fave, so I have to recommend it)
- The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (hilarious, and I recommend the film, too)
- Sword Art Online (flawed for sure, but it's still fun to watch)

The first three, definitely watch dubbed (they're far more entertaining or suitable that way). The other four could go either way (Melancholy is a huge toss-up), but I enjoyed all their dubs personally.

<div class="bbWrapper">I won't bother repeating the ones already mentioned. I just started watching D. Gray-man. It's interesting and funny. Also Blue Submarine Number 6 was great for only being 4 episodes. I guess it depends on what you like to watch. I've seen a bunch of different anime.<br /> <br /> OT: Bleach is awesome. I don't care what anyone else says.</div>

Go ahead and watch Magi, HxH, and FMA:B. They're anime you'll definitely enjoy, considering what you've already watched.

Code Geass and Death Note too, they're really good. They do focus more on the psychological aspect of things so be ready to use your 'mind' to keep up with the anime.
