To all those who have thought or posted something like this before, i'd recommend quickly looking into the 'Death of the Author' by literary theorist Roland Barthes. Weird to apply it to something like Naruto but the amount of people who try and censor and make the anime, novels and movies redundant is...staggering and counter-productive.Its filler bruh. Sorry

(a small gif of the legendary 'Madara Returns'- a 'non-canon' episode, technically.)
If you place biblical-like authorship and ownership of the series to Kishimoto...even though Masashi was never the lone creator, contributor or even writer then you limit the story for yourself. Kishimoto was aided by inspirations (HunterXHunter, DBZ) guided at every turn by editors and co-writers (one of which suggested SASUKE. Pretty integral part of the manga there)
and his reception (us) has influenced the manga and the anime onwards. We only get Itachi and Kakashi exposure for example because they are well-liked characters- therefore we, the audience actively change the story.

People who disregard perfectly good new stories are dampening the series for themselves. Making perfectly good stories and arcs (some even better than canon arcs cough Shikamaru Hiden, cough Will of Fire, cough Chikara) irrelevant for no reason when all Naruto media is unanimous and there to entertain you. As long as the filler does not contradict existing information there is no reason other than elitism than to ruin the story for yourself by pretending it didn't happen.
Fictional universes don't work that way- we don't catalogue histories like we do in real life for pinpoint precision, we . Naruto's filler keeps the world intact and isn't even that bizarre compared to other series- it simply worldbuilds and gives us more stories. Are they badly placed and paced throughout the series? Yes. Does that make them irrelevant? No.

(More important & iconic moments in the series which didn't and could never have happened....for some reason....because the internet told you so and you believed them.)
Every gif up there is from an episode that expands on the original story, fixes some of the manga's errors and blank spaces and entertains, sometimes moreso than 'canon arcs'. People who invalidate the majority of Naruto media are putting more thought into it than Kishimoto himself. Really all of you know that what we could use right now as fans is simply, more Naruto. So why do so many fans refuse it?
