It should have been Italy v Colombia and in the next round Italy should have defeated Brazil

And than Italy could provide for a much better match against Germany than the pathetic performance yesterday

But instead a retard ref (who was incidentally also at yesterdays match) fked over Italy and helped Uruguay to victory in a game they didn't even remotely deserve to win, but now Germany got revenge by humiliating the SAmerican favs (and their ref army) XD

If this world cup were held anywhere outside SAmerica (ie not extreme climate) the European teams would steam-roll SAmerica and we could possibly see all European semis (I would feel sorry for Messi though)

@Cali, but not only that, if I didn't know any of Argentinas players and looked at the team for the first time I would venture a guess at Italy, I would never ever guess Messi was from Argentina, in fact:

His paternal family originates from the Italian city of Ancona

PS I just heard that Brazil didn't get to play even one match on Maracana on their own World Cup

If Brazil had encountered one of the European teams in the 16th or Quarter finals, the chance they reached the semi-finals is very small. They were putting more effort in crying and singing their national anthem rather than focusing on their matches. Their captain started crying during the penalty shootout against Chile and didn't even dare to watch, that same captain who got himself a yellow card in the most retarded way imaginable, resulting in him being suspended for the semi-final, which is no less than betraying your own team. Then even had the bloody nerve trying to get that yellow card invalidated. How sad can you be? Even their own former internationals described this team and captain as a bunch of crybabies not worthy the play at this stage. "We draw strength from Neymar's injury", showing his shirt during the national anthem, crying yet again. What a cruel joke that was, if they already drew that much strength from Neymar's injury, I wonder how many they are receiving for the misery that 200 millions brazilians are currently having from this loss?

You do have a Point here.U_U

Today is Argentina's match,I wonder how do they do!

Jose Mourinho and Roman Abramovich must be really happy that they sold David Luiz for 40 million, his price might have plummeted after last nights performance, but I think Mou never used him as a true defender, it was foolish of Brazil to build whole defense around him. He needed Silva to cover for him, which Dante could not provide.

But the blame for the defeat falls on the shoulders of Scolari , he probably thought that they had won the world cup because it is happening in Brazil, and I can't understand the reason of his over-confidence, brazil never looked coherent or fluent this world cup.
His strategies if any were destroyed yesterday.
There were no substitutions made after they went down 3-0, no changes in formation nothing, as if they wanted to get destroyed.
He built his defense around Luiz, provided no one to cover for his mistakes.
He failed to realise that he was playing against a strong German team, he probably didn't even looked at their playstyle. After defeating Colombia he just thought they have won it, which in fact proved wrong.

They deserved to lose.Flukes aren't recurring in nature.

To burst your final bubble do you know which South-American team is the most European? Argentina. Argentina is currently the Italy of South-America, the way how they play approaches that of the Italian catenaccio-system, which is as un South-American is it can possibly be. And yes they can become world champion with that, Italy has done it before. So even if it's not a European team that wins, it's a European-inspired team that will do it.

Face the facts.

If I am not mistaken Catenaccio was destroyed by Total-football of Ajax, which very well can happen with Argentina against Netherlands or Germany.

off topic
>is Belgian
>French and German as official languages
>has legit reason to cheer for Belgium, France and Germany
>2/3 teams out still one to go

Lucky Roel. Romania didn't even make it to the Word Cup.

on topic
I always found latin countries to be a bunch of women when it comes to football. Perhaps football in general degenerated to a game of failed theatricalities and useless complaints. But latin teams are just retarded. This coming from a Romanian. Brasil were turds throughout the whole thing. I cheered for England but they sucked ass, so I have no reason to take either side.
/Cough correction;

Belgium has three official languages: Dutch, French, and German.

You don't destroy a system, it simply changes. The Tici-taca of the Spanish also got 'destroyed', however what the Germans use is in fact a variation on it and they are playing the final after butchering Brazil with it.

The catenaccio system never disappeared from Italy and is still very well present. Not that drastically anymore, however in 2000 they got in to the final of the Eurocup with it and also in 2012, though I don't really remember anymore how well they played all their matches then. This WC they did the same again, especially against England and Uruguay and Argentina is pretty much using a similar method.

Actually it isn't Scolari's mistake, as a manager you really become vulnerable, when opposite team scores 4 goals within 6 minutes.
Brazil simply forgot to play during those 6 minutes, when Germany simply took away the match. He should have prepared some measures for this problem beforehand and that's where he went wrong, substitution and all was quiet okay in my opinion.
Secondly they really did missed silva, he was the one who was holding the defense together, the backbone which was missing yesterday.
Talking about Luiz, Chelsea is one of those premier league squads that has defenders like Ivanovic, Cahill to support him. Looking from market perspective, yes it was a good decision but from team perspective, only time will tell, though David Luiz isn't bad player as people are making him look like, he wasn't just suitable for responsibilities yesterday and result is this.U_U

I thought that Scolari should have introduced Dani Alves and Fred should have been substituted earlier, but that I assume is just my hindsight bias.

As for David Luiz I also don't think he is bad he just is a attacking defender and not suited as someone around which you build your defense, like you said Mou supports him with Ivanovic, Terry or Cahill, allowing him to play the attacking defender role in which he can be more expressive with the ball.

For Brazil against Germany, Luiz seemed to think he was still playing that role, looking to break forward with menace, pick the ball up in dangerous areas and fashion chances for others moving into the final third.
Except, when he did that, only one centre-back remained in place. And Germany swarmed forward, with great movement, one-touch play and terrible, clinical precision finishing.
He is more offensive minded and need someone like Silva, which Dante couldn't provide yesterday.

Anyways the German team were totally superior and completely dominated.I find it hard to believe in any circumstance, Brazil would have won.

As for Chelsea I don't watch them regularly so can't comment properly but Mou employed a defensive style last season, if he uses the same then they might miss David Luiz more than they are expecting he is a good attacking defender, a good resource which if utilized properly can yield good results.

Let me rephrase myself, when I said destroyed I meant Total Football reduced its potency and I agree it is still present in italy albeit a modified version but the emergence total football reduced the man marking system which was a staple in 1970-early 80's italian teams.
But zonal defense is still its contribution and still remains, just its potency and recurrence were nerfed.
And I completely agree with you that techniques are not destroyed they just evolve.

Argentina vs Holland. Hmm would be funny to see Argentina win and see all the Brazilian fans support Germany.

Actually just like I said earlier, I think he was just vulnerable when Germany slotted them 4 goals.
Talking about Alves, yes I agree, rather I think he should have started with Alves in place of Maicon.
About Fred, he was pretty much ineffective throughout the tournament, one goal in six matches, with Neymar, Oscar and Hulk to support you isn't something that you expect from your forward.

As for David Luiz I also don't think he is bad he just is a attacking defender and not suited as someone around which you build your defense, like you said Mou supports him with Ivanovic, Terry or Cahill, allowing him to play the attacking defender role in which he can be more expressive with the ball.

Yes I completely agree on Dante part though I was expecting more from him, perhaps because he plays for Bayern Munich and I was expecting him to 'decode' the Kroos play and contain Muller. None of them happened sadly.
I was trying to focus on the statement that 'Luiz selling being a good decision'. I doubt if someone remembers that the same David Luiz was part of Chelsea squad when they stopped the Barca attack in European Champions league semis, before 2 years ago?:p
I know things have changed and yes he is attack minded defender, but Chelsea need one at the moment, because Azpilicueta is the only other attack minded renowned defender that they have as far as I know and if Mourinho goes again for the same tactics, they will miss that Luiz.
Anyways the German team were totally superior and completely dominated.I find it hard to believe in any circumstance, Brazil would have won.
I already commented before the match that it will be 'brain' vs 'heart' type of match. Brazil looked like team which forgot to play football during the mid-first half, they were lacking the 'football heart' which I always saw every Brazilian player carrying with him. I was comparing it with Spain debacle in second half against Netherlands.Lol
And Germany were 'ruthless', no mercy with complete domination and accuracy in their tactics.
As for Chelsea I don't watch them regularly so can't comment properly but Mou employed a defensive style last season, if he uses the same then they might miss David Luiz more than they are expecting he is a good attacking defender, a good resource which if utilized properly can yield good results.
@bold, exactly. That's why I hate Mourinho, Luiz was certainly needed in my opinion. Still I am not Chelsea fan but my friends are, so if United will be able to defeat Chelsea this season, I think I know what will be one of the possible reasons.Lol

Mourinho is great coach there is no doubt about it, but he comes with a great cost, his own set of eccentricities, he supersedes his team almost in a negative way, unlike other coaches like LVG or Ancelotti or Sir Alex or even premier league coaches like Brendan Rodgers or Roberto Martinez his style of coaching is a little negative, even a team like Real Madrid suffered in the last season because of his unnecessary negativity. It took half a season for Ancelotti to rebuild them. I always tell my friends that he likes to leave scorched earth behind, it happened at Internazionale, it happened it Real Madrid, it might happen at Chelsea.
