You two are dead to me.
And who told you that? XIII shouldn't even be compared with.....No.
Well I can see where a comparison can be made.
Cloud/Lightning= Brooding, depressed main characters.
Barret/ Sazh= The black guys
Yuffie/ Vanille= Preppy, annoying girls. I don't know if Yuffie is all that preppy, but I have heard that she is annoying.
But I never try to compare FF games because they are all meant to be different. Fans will always try to find ways of comparing them, but at the end of the day they are completely new games, with some recurring elements.
What kills me though, is when XIII-2 videos on Youtube or even posts on some forums demand the old FF back. Some fans don't seem to understand that SE needs to keep moving forward and that remaking the old games will take a lot of time, especially since the earlier FF games were made on the SNES system and trying to remake that onto the PS3, will take so much time. And while they are remaking those games fans will probably demand "Where's FF XV or XVI". So yeah, I kind of feel bad for SE, they are trying to take bold new directions in their series, but every time they do fans lash out at them and state "VII is the best" or "Make it like the old games", but if SE were to make it like the old games, the fans overtime would crave for something new, even though they wanted something older in the first place.
Point is, that XIII was a completely different direction from older titles. Was it for the better? Most fans would say no, especially if they are the ultra-conservative fans of FF. Others will say they enjoy it, especially if XIII was their first game in the series. XIII-2 can probably pull XIII out of the rut, but only time will tell.
