Feudal Pokemon
Planting her feet firmly on the floor and looking under her bed, "Kotonaru, are you awake sleepyhead?" She coaxed.
Buggy blue eyes pierced from the spare blanket nest, its feathery aubergine fur stirring due to its trembling.
"It was a cold night, I'm sorry I-" the young woman connected all of the signs: her father had been away for months, there shouldn't be any smell of burning wood. It was the middle of winter with no breath in front of her face; the light should be coming from the window, not the door. The town bell clashed with a deep resonating sound.
The voice of the neighbor boy cried, " Get out of the house!"
The young woman raced out into the main room, a blazing fire suffocated and blinded her. Was it an accident? A raid perhaps? But the radicals were pushed back a month ago, how could this be? Shaken by the fact that her house was burning down, the young woman froze, still as stone, flooded with fear. A lone ember dancing through the increasingly thick smog happened to land on the young woman’s pale, frost-bitten cheek, the searing sharp pain breaking her fearful state. Rushing back into her room, she looked under the bed to find the terrified eyes of her pet.
"Kotonaru, we have to go now; come on!" Sliding her arms under the bed, the creature began to shake, a thin white powder slowly creeping the area around it. Ahh, we don't have time to be scared! Quickly pulling away, the clever young woman grabbed her bedding, wrapped it around the shaking Venonat, and scrambled out of the crumbling home.
The smog left the young woman breathless as she collapsed in the melting snow. A few beams of sunlight broke through the billowing clouds from the fire. The small creature’s quaking forced its powder, to seep through the crevices of the bedding. Her eyes struggling to stay open as the powder took its toll on her. The familiar voice echoed through the young woman’s head, "Get up; we have to leave right now!" Lackadaisically, she lift her body upwards. My family's armor!
"Oh no!" Instantly rejuvenated, she raced back into the blaze filled with memories. The young woman leapt through fire like when the traveling act made their way through her small village. She rushed into what was left of the family room, grabbing all she could: a masterly-crafted ancestral mask of snake-like angular face which peaked into two crests on both sides, representing the long legendary use of Sceptile in battle, the family’s katana, and the matching breastplate, both crafted by grandfathers of grandfathers, off of the wooden human-shaped mantle. Bursting through the exit and gasping for breath, the young woman fell to her knees clutching the possessions tightly to her chest. A deep hateful scream resounded; the sound of armor bouncing off of itself. The young woman’s curiosity piqued; she looked up seeing a demon-masked warrior, fully clad in armor, charge toward her neighbor.
The demon swiftly cleaved the innocent boy as it got into range; a torrent of blood stained the snow as the blade severed the child in two. A four-legged beast, looking as evil as the demon warrior, began walking toward the shocked woman. It had horns like the devil and smoke billowed from its mouth, trailing behind it, as it crept forward-- the foul odor of acidic bile, then the stench of burning flesh overpowered the beast’s foul smell. The beast began its charge. What do I do..? That boy- My neighbor.. My home... The young woman got a better look at the beast as it bolted towards her, black as the soot it created with bleach white bones protruding through short, tufted fur. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw her pet Kotonaru leave the blankets, fleeing for its own life. The sleeping powder from Kotonaru! Quickly grabbing the blanket, she threw it over the vile beast, spreading the spore.
Narrowly escaping, the young woman kneeled down to pick up the fallen breastplate; she turned her head realizing what she had almost done. In her fear, she ran past her pet Venonat and was leaving it behind. Tears filled her eyes and, leaving the breastplate in the snow, she ran back to the fearful insect, embracing it in loving arms.
"I am so sorry, Kotonaru. I don't know why I did that. You should be my only priority; I have nothing left but you and I almost left you behind. I am a terrible owner." The young woman, having salvaged only a morning kimono, the dull kanana, the ancestral mask and her pet, trekked up the forested mountain side that overlooked the now, smoldering ruins of her village.
I suppose I had promised a fan-fic as my 1000th post, however I hadn't got around to it was too tough to do with the Naruto plot changing as I tried to write it, so I had done something semi inspired by Naruto as I am re-watching it all with a friend who hasn't seen any of it and she's enjoying it very much so. Along with Pokemon X&Y being announced I've kinda been in a fluster to do something Pokemon, so this is basically a mash up of Samurai and Pokemon. I guess this could be considered a rip off of Pokemon Conquest as well but that isn't really where my inspiration had come from. I'm not sure if I'll continue this or not, and even if I do it probably wont get posted on here. Regardless I hope you enjoy.
I'd also like to apologize for the way the main character talks, I hadn't really established the character before hand to myself. I basically just started writing and that is where I got to.
Are you a Boy or a Girl?
"You need to wake up right now!"
Opening sleep-dazed eyes to the bright light and the delight of a summer heat, the young woman slowly stretched
and gathered her bearings. A wisp of smoke rippled along the larch wood ceiling, leaving the familiar and comforting scent of pyrography that her father had done, ever since she could remember. Planting her feet firmly on the floor and looking under her bed, "Kotonaru, are you awake sleepyhead?" She coaxed.
