Overall I say this was a poor chapter. August being the blood child of Zeref has no build up and isn't really necessary. Hiro did everything he could to make it seem like Larcade was the blood son of Mavis & Zeref and tried going for shock value by saying it was actually August. Zeref killing off his blood son due to his insanity could've had an impact and could've had future potential but again, it was tossed aside for pure shock value.
Also, Larcade being demon causes a little confusion and a small plot hole as EVERY demon Zefer made so far was of dark. Larcade being off light with no explanation raises a few eyebrows(one could say Mavis DNA but where did he get it?).
Lastly, the Gildarts thing isn't really working as he shouldn't even be a match for August in the first place & Cana should be useless.
I agree but on two points.
First, the chapter was better than expected, but granted, I do not expect much - yet, Gildarts figuring out August´s power without the friendship attribute was refreshing, as was the latter´s emotion (clenching his fist).
Second, Gildarts was the only one who could´ve measured up to August - I don´t think even Makarov could. The former staying his ground is way more than acceptable - so far, he is the only one who has survived a clash with Acnologia head on (do you remember Serena?). Even getting out of there is hell of an achievement, even though he should be the strongest mage on the continent. Cana is a support acting as a one-trick pony (with her cards, maybe as a two-card one, fine), but cannot get targeted due to Gildarts, as we can see in this chapter.
In my opinions, one of the better fights and one of the better chapters. I raised my eyebrows about Mavis being biologically 13 and having a child with Zeref, though. That ain´t no adult to me...
