One thing is certain though... Mavis is not dead. Otherwise, she wouldn't be able to project her astral self nor would there be any point in keeping her body "frozen".
Mavis is a Ghost. So whether she became one after dead or was it her astral self is yet to known eventhough Mashima stated she is a Ghost. Now if Mavis is really dead then who would have made that FH?. Zeref? or Yuriy Dreyar?.
Edit - nvm_____It is said that "She is an Disembodied Spirit". So I guess Zeref is the one who might have done that.
^^Probably the people with curse can't even find salvation even in death.
Also when Zeref was performing his experiments the old person there was afraid he knew about the curse so I feel someone earlier had been cursed like Zeref?

Just like last week's chapter cover page, the background in this week's cover page too is filled with Black. So it indeed was done purposely. This more or less indicates that chapter 449 and 450 are the Dark Chapters in Mavis and Zeref life respectively. Taking the events that happened into account in those two chapters, it stays loyal to what I said. This is indeed a good thinking done by Mashima for cover pages. Nice one!.

Starting right at where we left off in last week's chapter, this chapter opened with the birth of Yuriy's Son, Makarov Dreyar in year x696 and return of Mavis to her Guild from the forest. A new character named, Rita, who is a wife of Yuriy Dreyar was introduced in this chapter. Let me think she is the first female in the Dreyar lineage. The role of Dreyar family in Fairy Tail is irreplaceable. They became a crucial part in this manga from Yuriy to Laxus. And I think there is more to come and more to see in the future. Expressions were very nicely shown in this chapter. And we can see Mavis fancying the child.

Soon after that we saw Rita asking Mavis to name her Child. From Zer0, we all knew

. So Mavis naming the child as Makarov, a kindly king from the book which she read long ago was a good point. Precht still hanging to the 'Pippoko' name but sadly everyone ignored him. And we can see Rita wishing that makarov would rise with love of the Guild. Soon after that Rita passed in the hand of Mavis. It is at this stage Mavis might have understood the true meaning of the life which triggered the activation of her curse.

And on later we can see Mavis running away from the guild to the forest. As she is running away we can see the flowers around her starting to fall off. And soon one year passed. In year x697, she met Zeref again in the forest but this time it is Zeref who came in looking for Mavis. We can see Mavis in rippled clothes and in complete grief of what she became as of now. It is stated that even if you are beheaded, you will not die. Such is the immortality. We can see Mavis pleading to Zeref to kill her miserable life but Zeref responds with it being an impossible task. A task that neither one of them can complete.

Later on Zeref tried to comfort Mavis saying now they have the unlimited time in the world. He then proceeds to explain about his etherious creations and Albareth Empire. He says that he treated the people in his country as a mere pawns in the chessboard so that Ankhseram's curse won't have any effect on them. Zeref wasn't sure at that time whether he wants to go for war or not until later in year x792 where he came to the conclusion about the Ragnarok. After on which Mavis goes and hugs Zeref as he begins to contradict himself not just in his actions but in his thoughts too. This is the life of a person who is subjected to the 'Curse of Contradiction'.

After that now this is Mavis time to comfort Zeref saying they will together search for a way to break this curse and she is certain that there might be a way to break this curse. Finally Mavis and Zeref's thoughts were on one stand and both of them acknowledged each other. And Zeref is so happy that he found someone who understands him and so does Mavis. As it goes on like this, we can see how much Zeref loves Mavis which he showed her with Kiss. As Mavis and Zeref kissing each other, we can notice the entire area around them is snuffed out.

And then the narration shifted towards One Magic. It is said that One Magic, the true root of Magic is "Love" according Mavis Vermillion. Love between Mavis and Zeref brought contradiction to the contradictory curse they both are suffering. The Curse of Contradiction.>The more you love, the more it steals the life<. Pretty good concept if you ask me. Zeref loved Mavis so much that, it even took the life of Mavis who is supposed to be immortal. Just when Zeref and Mavis thought they found someone who understand each other everything went despair especially for Zeref. Such is the Curse of Ankhseram, the God of Life and Death. A tragic conclusion to the story of a Cursed boy and Cursed girl. In next chapter we might see the epilogue of what happened after Mavis died if she really?!.

Final Verdict - Overall an very Good chapter with the concept of life & death and revelation of One Magic as 'Love' with nice detailed and well drawn art. In addition to how well the feelings were depicted, the concept of Contradictory Curse has been explained very well along with the little hint of from where the the curse of contradiction might have originated.
Regarding next chapter, it is titled as 'Fairy Heart'. I guess the title is self explanatory about what may happen in next week. We might find out about the creation of Fairy Heart and who might have involved in it's creation. That is all this time, Next time in next week.
