So, Gray is stronger now? Since he now is able to melt ice that someone else would have to use Moon Drip to do it.

A comment on *********** got me thinking, what if Flare is actually the eternal flame?

There might be a connection with Flare, however she has seen the Eternal Flame and knew where it was supposed to be and considering it left its shape in the ice, it was recently there.

So unless what we thought was the Eternal Flame wasn't the Eternal flame or that Flare just became it very recently when it got frozen, she is not the Eternal Flame.

The pacing is... very slow. At least the ending had quite a surprise to it.

Meh, that might explain the voice, though by now we've had so many different types of flames pass the the revue that there isn't anything specific that links to Atlas Flame.

Well.... if you have to think of the quest they are on.... and who gave it to them.... One of the ten great wizard saints... Natsu and Gray where the ones that got the quest, so in a way it might be something that ties both there background story together.

That depends on how you look at it. They were sent because of practical reasons as they're an ice & fire mage and the task is to save people from ice. I doubt Walrod sent them on the quest to make them realize their past or something.

If there is some connection, then that would just be the plot. Natsu's character still needs a lot of explaining, however Gray, as far is currently known, is just normal. That he learned ice magic is also pretty much a coincidence. For the same money he could have been taught another type of magic.
