I personally feel he'd be better as an aide. A powerful and smart man but a man who can choose to slaughter his own clan even with the conditions he was in shouldn't be given power IMO. Because future events and war/politics would force him into similar conditions and we already know he's willing to go to the extremes to 'make peace'.

He could potentially destroy the entire village with his judgement. Don't get me wrong, the guy is a genius- but so were Hiruzen and Danzo, he could mess so much up whilst aiming for good- which is what makes his character so interesting.

Don't make him Hokage though.

Itachi was born into root/anbu he was made to follow orders, he's no different than alot spies/soilders he was also born into a time when the uchiha were not very well trusted(think the japanese during ww2). He was brainwashed into thinking he was doing the right thing, if you don't have the power you can't make the decisions, if he was hokage he would have a big part in the decisions which would be the difference. he killed his clan to stop a war that would without a doubt have tons of casualties and almost definitely would cause the other villages to invade the leaf due to the loss in power which would of had them taken over, its not an easy decision but itachi did what he had to.

Doesn't matter. The fact that he was brought himself to do it shows there is potential there. He's not afraid to take collateral damage, even if the collateral damage is actual genocide. Someone with stakes like that shouldn't be Hokage.

And what happens in the future when Hokage Itachi who killed his whole clan is forced into positions where he might have to go to war against another nation if the result for not doing so is having the village wiped out? Like actual war politics? Itachi would sacrifice anything in his judgement...as long as it doesn't involves his baby brother.

He doesn't have the strength required to protect an entire village.

No because he'd have died of illness after only serving a very short time.
No because he'd go blind after only serving for a very short time.

If he didn't have that sickness and wouldn't go blind from the MS , then I'd say he'd make a great Hokage.

I still wouldn't say he'd be the best as he'd still be behind Minato and Hashirama.
