Of course Orochimaru never defeated a Kage Level Opponent. Yes, he defeated the Hokage and the Kazekage; but if a Itachi-wanker says he didnt defeat a Kage level shinobi than let it be. Itachi-wankers only have 2 things in mind
"ITACHI SOLOS ALL AND THE PEOPLE WHO ITACHI HAVE DEFEATED ARE TO BE MADE FUN OF IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE"

As for the Deidara part, Gaara was also protecting the village. The 4th Kazekage was not protecting the village at that time because if he would've been protecting it than the village would've known that the 4th Kazekage and Orochimaru are fighting.

Itachi never soloed a Kage level shinobi as well. He was assisted by Sasuke in his battle with Kabuto and would've lost if it wasn't for Sasuke. The Tayuya Genjutsu was enough to defeat the SOLO king.

Your logic, directly is correct but at the same time incorrect. Kage Level - regardless of what state of life Hiruzen is in, he is a Kage therefore is Kage Level.
