External Hard Disk Problem

when i connected my Verbatim hard disk to my PC it says to format it!:nuts:
is there anyway to fix that problem? cause that 1TB disk has so many important DATA of mine

yeah. i went to a shop that gives 2GB for 10 bucks here to get some movies. when i came back and tried to use it this happened.

Windows 7 ultimate. tried on windows 8 also. the same happens

Well Windows 7 and 8 basically have the same work format.If available try on XP it will surely work.

Well then u should defragment the disk and scan it by a gud antivirus.Sometimes the bad sectors on the disk increase even more than the tolerance line causing trouble......How old is ur HD and have u ever formatted it?

never formatted before..i bought it on november, so 6 months

well then u first try scanning and defragmenting it.If it is being detected then u can do it.
It is advisible to defragment the hdd regularly and Format it once in a while if u use it often.Its for both external and internal.I think the bad sectors have incresed so much in ur Hdd that Formatting is the only option left by the Windows.
if its a virus prob. Then a quick scan will remove it..
