Just a small experiment I had to see what an oil paint image would look like with a lava background. I could probably do better, still learning how to mess with the program currently though. Sorry.

Edit: Hellsbadass gave a good suggestion, so I modified it to be this.

Is this better?

the blured sakura I don't really like, other than that I think it would be pretty good.
It seems that its unpopular to blur, so I think in my next experiment I won't bother with it. Thank you for the feedback Neutrino. @_@ Anything is pretty helpful, I am just a beginner.

well in some case's it is probably not bad to blur certain things. Probably if I were to try this though I would probably be doing very bad(I don't even have the program in the first place lol)

I only have GIMP because it is free.... Don't really have the cash to dish out to get some of the bigger programs. Its very nifty though to have.

Try making a copy of your render layer (in this case it's sakura) and blurring the render layer farthest behind. It gives it a pretty cool, subtle effect.

Thank you both, with some time I hope to get better and eventually have enough skills to complete the comic that I am working on. (Granted, the comic is much easier than making sigs and all that.)

nah, it doesn't always have to be blurred.
first he should do something to the actual blending and then blur the botton of sakura, put a lightsource etc blah
