Has never happened. He trainined himself to fight the sharnigan. Even Itachi couldn't catch him in genjustu. And he Kai'd out of Kabuto's.

Gai is the anti Uchiha expert. He doesn't look into their eyes and has learned to counter them by watching their freet.

Itachi said it himself. Every jutsu has a weakness, including those of the sharingan. Sharingan is overpowered and central to the series, but it's not invincible. Taijutsu works on it, as does countless other jutsu with similar or even exceeding properties. It's implied Tobirama developed FTG for the sole purpose of bypassing the sharingan, and that was how he beat Izuna.
