I think that if Christians acted like the bible told them to, I wuden't be against the religion, at that point it can only be described as a good religion.

His logic is way to silly and childish which is why I assume that this is just comedy show. For example if you don't follow the law you're considered a criminal.

No person shall do any of the following while in any facility or on any vehicle of a public transportation system: […]
(3) Expectorate upon a person, facility, or vehicle.

If you don't follow such a silly rule like the one above, people have the right to call you a criminal.(of course if you're found guilty in case you actually go to the court for that XD). So yeah the point is nothing is perfect, rules are meant to be broken....

But yeah everyone is hypocrite in their own way....

I think everyone is a hypocrite in some manner at some point in time. People who dislike religion are fine but people who constantly seek to belittle a religion and embarrass those who believe are even lower than those they antagonize.

The validity of his statements depends entirely upon your experience with evangelical christians and some of your own fundamental views of things.

The "problem" with with his logic is that the actual Gospels comprise only about 10% of the Bible.

Also, keep in mind that any time someone asks you: "What Would Jesus Do" - keep in mind that flipping over tables and chasing people with whips is within the realm of documented possibilities.

Anyway - Jesus did not come to overturn God's laws. He came to overturn our use of those laws. This "New Covenant" is more or less "Don't use God's teachings as an excuse to drag the person you don't like out into public and stone him to death." Since, basically, that is what the Jews were doing at the time.

Just as the police use things like Civil Asset Forfeiture in today's world, the Pharisee and the devious within Jewish society were using the laws as a means of extortion and control.

No. It's not suddenly okay to cheat on your wife, nor is it suddenly a good idea to eat undercooked meats (the reason for Kosher was because some meats need to be cooked thoroughly or are prone to spoiling far more quickly).

Keep in mind we were also talking a time in Israel when Rome was very unpopular and the "messiah" was commonly perceived as being a sort of King David who would rally an army against Rome and bring about the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. They were expecting a warlord who would bring, basically, conquest.

Part of why Jesus so frequently spoke of peace was because the Romans were quick to Rofl-Stomp Jews who proclaimed to be the Messiah (since that was translated as proclaiming one's self to be a King and in violation of Roman laws regarding treason). Jesus grew up and saw the nearby town burned to the ground over a would-be Messiah.

Anyway - the point is that not everyone agrees upon the context of Jesus' message or the extent to which it applies. For example - if I walk out onto the beach and see a young woman being gang-raped, I imagine that Jesus would approve the use of force to protect her. There are times where violence is necessary if good is to survive.

Now - as for the logic of Evangelicals...

What, exactly, says they are being hateful?

If you believe that someone is going to hell for what they are doing - reminding them of the consequences you foresee for them is not hateful. Just because someone is made to feel uncomfortable does not mean that the emotion directed at them is hatred. Someone who cheats on his wife should damned sure feel uncomfortable beneath my evaluation of their decision.

"Love" is not always expressed as hugs and rainbows.

Now - there are those out there who I would agree are being hateful about their delivery of things. Saying: "God Hates You" is well seated in hatred, I would agree.

But that isn't how all Evangelicals word their concerns, nor how most of them truly feel.

I would argue that most of them are deeply concerned that society is embracing twisted and destructive moral/ethical patterns. The recent reports from "Spring Break" highlight, precisely, the consequences they have been warning of and concerned about for decades. When people are openly gang-raped and crowds simply watch and record with phones - the notion that we are a "good" society that is dedicated to protecting the rights of the individual goes right out the window. Even if none of those people were in support of the action - their failure to stop it represents an allowance for evil.

In that regard - I would kindly remind humanists of their own hypocrisy.

Christianity is what led to the success of the West. Say what you will about its follies and errors - it was the Christian value of the individual and the unnecessary nature of violence that allowed the West to succeed and overshadow Rome despite a divided set of cultures that were not unified under one empire. Christian thought allowed for the Enlightenment to take place and paved the way for the Industrial Revolution.

Humanist principles have led to Stalin and Mao. The Russian missionaries who helped restore the shattered culture of the Balkans after centuries of Ottoman rule were thrown into the gulag and exterminated as threats to the natural virtue of man.

So, I would caution humanists to be wary of their own hypocrisy, as they've never once successfully built more than bloody revolutions leading to tyranny.

Power was always the issue, not religion. It's simply means to an end for many

It's unfortunate you didn't address any of the points.

Why is it okay for this form of Christian to quote 'love thy neighbor', and turn around and try to keep gay people out of modern society?

Why can Jesus be peaceful and MLK practice demonstration without violence, but these modern Evangelical Christians are super gung ho to kill them some "terrorists". You yourself have expressed this sentiment that Muslims are somehow inferior to the lining of your boot and the butt of your rifle. However they stand a chance to take over the US because Obama may or may not be a Muslim and he may or may not be trying to kill all of us 'Mericans.

Why are people not murdering their neighbors who work on Sundays?

You can't claim to be saved by Jesus and in the same breath claim you would kill all them Muslim terrorists, or gays in a heartbeat(Not saying you said that). If you're going to base your life off of a book, be consistent with your bullshit(I'm not calling the bible bullshit).

There weren't any points made.

Who is doing this?

Examples.

Because no one who jabbers endlessly about how Jesus was a Hippie truly understood anything.

" Matthew 24 Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. 2 “Do you see all these things?” he asked. “Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.”

3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”

4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.

9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

15 “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’[a] spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. 18 Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. 19 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.

22 “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. 23 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you ahead of time.

26 “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28 Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.

29 “Immediately after the distress of those days

“‘the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’

30 “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth[c] will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.[d] 31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

32 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33 Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it[e] is near, right at the door. 34 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. "

The Fig Tree is the ancient symbol for Israel.

Isreal's forming once again as a nation was fulfillment of prophecy. Jesus said that Israel would be destroyed, and that when it was reformed, the generation that saw it reformed would not pass away until the full prophecy of Israel was fulfilled.

A more comprehensive covering of the prophecy from across the Bible can be found here:

Jesus' own prophecy and railings against the Pharisee echo the prophecy in Ezekiel:

36 "16 Again the word of the Lord came to me: 17 “Son of man, when the people of Israel were living in their own land, they defiled it by their conduct and their actions. Their conduct was like a woman’s monthly uncleanness in my sight. 18 So I poured out my wrath on them because they had shed blood in the land and because they had defiled it with their idols. 19 I dispersed them among the nations, and they were scattered through the countries; I judged them according to their conduct and their actions. 20 And wherever they went among the nations they profaned my holy name, for it was said of them, ‘These are the Lord’s people, and yet they had to leave his land.’ 21 I had concern for my holy name, which the people of Israel profaned among the nations where they had gone."

Basically - God says: "You all were acting a shameful lot and so you were destroyed and cast abroad amongst the nations where you still refused to act appropriately."

Ezekiel first prophesied regarding what Israel would look like after it was reformed (the second prophecy was a clarification of why these things were seen).

"36 “Son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel and say, ‘Mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord. 2 This is what the Sovereign Lord says: The enemy said of you, “Aha! The ancient heights have become our possession.”’ 3 Therefore prophesy and say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because they ravaged and crushed you from every side so that you became the possession of the rest of the nations and the object of people’s malicious talk and slander, 4 therefore, mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Sovereign Lord: This is what the Sovereign Lord says to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys, to the desolate ruins and the deserted towns that have been plundered and ridiculed by the rest of the nations around you— 5 this is what the Sovereign Lord says: In my burning zeal I have spoken against the rest of the nations, and against all Edom, for with glee and with malice in their hearts they made my land their own possession so that they might plunder its pastureland.’ 6 Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel and say to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I speak in my jealous wrath because you have suffered the scorn of the nations. 7 Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I swear with uplifted hand that the nations around you will also suffer scorn.

8 “‘But you, mountains of Israel, will produce branches and fruit for my people Israel, for they will soon come home. 9 I am concerned for you and will look on you with favor; you will be plowed and sown, 10 and I will cause many people to live on you—yes, all of Israel. The towns will be inhabited and the ruins rebuilt. 11 I will increase the number of people and animals living on you, and they will be fruitful and become numerous. I will settle people on you as in the past and will make you prosper more than before. Then you will know that I am the Lord. 12 I will cause people, my people Israel, to live on you. They will possess you, and you will be their inheritance; you will never again deprive them of their children. "

This is a prophecy of the restoration following the destruction. The nations around Israel will attempt to claim it as their own. These tribes are named as being the descendants of Ishmael - who Muhammad claimed to be a descendant of.

If you want to get down into an actual analysis of the Qu'ran - we can talk about their speak of the end-times. Muhammad believed he was talking to the Angel Gabriel. An analysis of what Muhammad claims he was instructed to say and an evaluation of his behavior shows him to be a nearly polar opposite of Jesus.

Mathew 4 describes the temptations of Jesus.

"5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:

“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[c]”

7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[d]”

8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”

10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’[e]”

11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him. "

Notice - Jesus is tempted to raise an army and conquer. He can rule through conquest - but will do so as a servant of the devil (that - or Rome would roflstomp him as he would have forsaken any divine protection he had... theoretically, at least - depends upon whether one sees Jesus more as a man inspired by God or as God inspired to be man).

Compare to Muhammad:

"69:40 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is the word of a noble Messenger.

41 And it is not the word of a poet; little do you believe.

42 Nor the word of a soothsayer; little do you remember.

43 [It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

44 And if Muhammad had made up about Us some [false] sayings,

45 We would have seized him by the right hand;

46 Then We would have cut from him the aorta. "

Basically: "If I am making this up, may God strike me down where I stand!"

"9:30 The Jews say, "Ezra is the son of Allah "; and the Christians say, "The Messiah is the son of Allah ." That is their statement from their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved [before them]. May Allah destroy them; how are they deluded?

31 They have taken their scholars and monks as lords besides Allah , and [also] the Messiah, the son of Mary. And they were not commanded except to worship one God; there is no deity except Him. Exalted is He above whatever they associate with Him.

32 They want to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah refuses except to perfect His light, although the disbelievers dislike it.

33 It is He who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion, although they who associate others with Allah dislike it. "

So... at the ancestral worship site of the black rock protruding from the ground - Muhammad encounters a strange figure who he believes to be an angel of God who tells him: "Worship what I tell you is the real story of God, and then I'll give you the whole world."

When Jesus encountered this, he said: "Away from me, Satan."

When Muhammad encountered this, he says: "Well... if I really am saying false things about God... he'd kill me. Oh... well... I'm still alive - so I'm in the green."

Do you understand how Christianity and Islam are diametrically opposed?

Islam is a religion of the devil, quite literally, from the perspective of Jewish and Christian theology.

At the absolute best, we are talking about people who were born into the culture of a satanic cult who have been raised to reject compassion at every turn.

At the worst - they are practically spawns of hell.

Or naive fools who believe religion is nothing more than a fraternity club and never bother to read the book that serves as the basis of the thing. I consider them almost worse than the hellspawn since they don't even realize they are being rigged as self-destructing pawns within a cultural war.

For those who believe Christianity is about perpetual acquiescence and tolerance of criminality:

" Revelations 19 11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.”[a] He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:

king of kings and lord of lords.

17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair, “Come, gather together for the great supper of God, 18 so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, great and small.”

19 Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse and his army. 20 But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. 21 The rest were killed with the sword coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh. "

When you overlay Revelations atop the Prophecy of Israel - you end up with a return of the Ottoman Empire, hints of a nuclear war, and the/a messiah that will kill the ever living shit out of evil people. You have the battle at Armageddon and the rally of all nations' armies in the Valley of Jehoshaphat. All of which is supposed to transpire before the generation that saw Israel reborn passes away.

Why are people not murdering their neighbors who work on Sundays?

You didn't read my response very well, as I covered this.

See Luke 7:36-50

Why did Jesus not murder a woman who'd led a sinful life?

Matthew 21: 28-32; 33-46

These two parables go hand in hand. There is forgiveness - tolerance for fault - but there is also a purpose that must be fulfilled. When the purpose can no longer be jeopardized by sin - there is a consequence of the choice to sin.

According to Jesus - the sin can be a use of the law to control people:

" Mark 2:23 One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. 24 The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”

25 He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? 26 In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.”

27 Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28 So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” "

The Son of Man is old-speak for "the common man" - which can also be a reference to the prophecies of David speaking of seeing one "like a Son of Man." In this case, I would argue Jesus is making the case that people created the Sabbath and that human laws are not God's laws.

We see a similar story in Luke 13

"10 On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, 11 and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” 13 Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.

14 Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue leader said to the people, “There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath.”

15 The Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? 16 Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?”

17 When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing. "

On the basis of other laws - particularly concerning those of Leviticus - we can see in John 8:

" 8 1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.

2 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”

11 “No one, sir,” she said.

“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” "

The scenario here is often confusing for some - but Jesus was teaching and the Pharisee essentially decide to run him through a scenario. "Let's say this woman is accused of adultery."

Jesus is essentially saying that we have all sinned in ways that are punishable under the law, but choose to enforce those laws selectively while keeping our violations amongst ourselves. The law of Moses was not put into place to cause the destruction of people - but to preserve the integrity of society. If the enforcement of it has turned corrupt - then it is no longer serving its purpose.

More pointed attacks on this can be found in Jesus' numerous lectures of the Pharisee.

You can't claim to be saved by Jesus and in the same breath claim you would kill all them Muslim terrorists, or gays in a heartbeat(Not saying you said that). If you're going to base your life off of a book, be consistent with your bullshit(I'm not calling the bible bullshit).

And secular humanists are consistent?

The fact of the matter is that most people don't even know what is in the Bible to begin with - whether they claim to believe it or claim to be critics/skeptics. They read some of the more common passages and the well traveled verses - but they don't actually have much of a topological knowledge of what is actually in the thing.

To them - it means whatever the hell they want it to mean.

Critics will make it mean whatever they want it to mean for the sake of trying to put on a show of destroying it.

Fanatics will make it mean whatever they want it to mean to justify their actions at the time.

Within the context of Jesus' teachings - things like Homosexuality are still wrong. We just aren't supposed to use God's guidance as justification for accusing people and dragging them out into the street to kill them.

However, something that amounts to a religion for the devil must be stopped. The consequence of its existence means that lives will be lost on both sides. That is simple reality.

Exactly how to go about it is left a bit ambiguous. I'm not one who believes in "pure miracles" - I don't believe salvation from any of the world's problems is simply going to "poof" into existence. Armies of evil won't just suddenly stop and drop dead - some process will actually fulfill those prophecies.

From a strategic picture - Islam must be destroyed.

I'm not naive enough to believe that's going to be done through some kind of purely peaceful theological discussions. I am, however, also not so consumed by agenda as to believe kicking in doors and dragging people into the street to execute them is how it should be done.

I believe Islam has already started down a course that will sow the seeds of its own undoing in the long run. Try as they might - there are some universal concepts of human compassion that are difficult to drive out of people through cultural indoctrination. ISIS has had to murder quite a few muslims in order to preserve its hegemony over the regions it controls because they are not muslim enough - but 'muslim-enough' means adherence to laws that have been ignored for centuries in some areas and that lead to a practical destruction of the way of life of many.

So, there may be quite a few in the middle east who are willing to sit down and have a chat about theology after the armies of ISIS have been beaten back and soundly defeated.

It may not be necessary to exterminate all of the people in order to drive out Islam.

But, personally, if a meteor shower wants to come along and blast the place like Sodom - then you have no complaints from me.

Of course - you still have the muslims elsewhere in the world. Africa has an infestation as well as Indonesia. I trust America can handle her own problems and deal with Dearbornistan and Dallastan. Europe will eventually be forced to purge them or be consumed. Chechnya should be handled by the Russians if Putin could stop being a douche fixated on playing one-up with Obama (which is like playing one-up with a toddler).

But, I ramble incessantly.

Finding hypocrisy in anyone with extreme beliefs is inevitable. Humans are too imperfect to act perfectly without slipping and extreme thought/beliefs are illogical. Moderation and logic are the closest humans can get towards a misconstrued notion of perfection. Perfection is an unrealistic expectation that leads to suffering.

What I would like to know is why he bashes Muslims for their actions but tries to justify Christians.

Because you're an idiot.

"A man has reportedly been blindfolded and thrown off a tower block in Syria for ‘being gay’ before being stoned to death after surviving the fall.

New images have emerged appearing to show ISIS militants hurling the man off the seven-storey building in the town of Tal Abyad in Raqqa.

The man, who was supposedly being punished for having a ‘homosexual affair’, apparently survived the fall, but was stoned to death by a waiting crowd at the foot of the tower block."

By all means.

Show me where Christians are doing this.

"Three Iranian men have been executed after being found guilty of charges related to homosexuality, according to a semi-official news agency.

The men, only identified by their initials, were hanged on Sunday in the south-western city of Ahvaz, the capital of Iran's Khuzestan province."

If you think that the beliefs of even the most radical of Christians come -close- to the beliefs of moderate Muslims - you're an idiot.

I never said Christianity was as extreme as Islam. I said you are quick to bash Islam for its beliefs but try to justify some Christian beliefs, like the Earth being 6000 years old.

6000 years deal is not a Christian faith. It's a scientific theory called young earth creatiomism wich is promoted by some biblibical literallists called young earth creationists. Stop mixing fruits and vegetables.

I always thought he just copy and pasted a lot of information from websites. I am too ADHD to read 1/3 of his posts. I always try to keep my replies brief, but succinct. His posts always remind me of this Einstein quote:

"If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough."

I think it's fine to express yourself and get your point across but damn I do not have the time to sit there and read those. But to each his own.
