well if we look at the EU as a whole
economy: EU has bigger economy
military: USA
education: well Cambridge is in the EU so im biased and have to say EU
science: EU - CERN, ...
technology: i have no idea probably USA because of the military otherwise EU
Culture: EU ofc (Paris, Venice, Rome, Athens, London, ...)
Living: it depends on where you live in any of these two so there is no right answer

education: I'm kind of mixed here. While everybody in the United States has the availability and right to an education, it seems like most people can barely form a proper sentence.
living: Not really sure what you mean by this. If you're referring to the cost of living, it depends on what part of the US you are in, as is the same in Europe. In some places you can get extremely nice homes for ridiculously low costs, whereas in some locations you'll be lucky to get a tiny apartment in a crummy neighborhood for the same price.
culture: Well, the US is extremely diverse. I'll have to go with the US here as we have people from just about every nationality in the US.
science: We put man on the moon, now what?
technology: Most technology is available world wide. As somebody else said, the US is probably ahead of most in terms of military technology. However, in general, we seem to be on even grounds with Europe.
In conclusion, the US was built on immigration, killing injuns and taking their land, more immigration, a little bit of slavery, poor attempts at genocide, women thinking they can have rights, and then taking everything we have and thinking it can go down the drain when in reality this country was built in the drain.
Europe, yeah, they thought they got rid of all their bad nuggets by sending them to North America. Unfortunately they didn't realize they just got rid of everybody who doesn't have a big enough ego. Then Germany practically annihilated France, pretty much dominated Europe. Then Germany did a way better job at genocide than the US, and so we got jealous and came and saved Europe (Russia might have shot a few rounds too, but we did the most work).
And there you have it, a great perversion on the history of the western world (the only hemisphere that matters. Screw Asia).

Go learn your history, America didnt save europe, thats just typical american ego. you did pretty much nothing in europe your war was in the pacific with japan. Infact it was britain and russia that did most of it.
Russia might have shot a few rounds? they lost 26-27 million people in the war compared to 450 thousand of great britain or the 418 thousand of the united states
dont overplay the americans role.. yes you HELPED but if russia hadnt turned on the germans, the war would have been lost

Russia didn't exactly turn on the Germans, they were sort of invaded. Pretty important difference considering they were content with letting Germany dominate Europe before that.
Saying America "did pretty much nothing" is just as inaccurate as saying we saved the world. In reality Hitler's ego and greed is what caused Germany to fall. But that's a completely separate topic.
As for EU vs. USA neither is better. Both are pretty good places to live when looking at the world. Schools are great, living conditions are top of line, safety is something you generally don't have to worry about. Culturally I would say Europe is obviously richer, though the major countries of Europe have also been around quite a bit longer than America. So the comparison is kind of unfair. In terms of science and technology I guess it depends on which field you're looking at. Though I'm tempted to give America the edge, but that could just be because I'm more familiar with whats going on over here.
Actually, the American role in Europe was really quite significant. Ever hear of the 82nd Airborne? They fearlessly jumped from Airplanes into occupied territory by themselves. If it wasn't for the 82nd airborne, the success at Normandy and other beach landings never would have happened (well, it may have, but they would have required far more casualties).
As for the Russian's work, they would have had far fewer casualties if they didn't blatantly charge into gunfire for the most part (and if their officers didn't shoot them on failed charges into enemy gunfire).
I'm sure if the US hadn't entered the European fray, Germany would have eventually lost, but the casualties would have been much more enormous. While I appreciate the Russian military might, I do not appreciate Joseph Stalin, a far sinister leader than Adolf Hitler ever was.
Edit: Either way, for a country that hates North Americans more than anybody else, France was saved twice by the US and Canada. In fact, the 3rd Infantry Division earned the nick name the Rock of the Marne. The Marne being a rive in France, and the 3ID being it's rock seeing as it halted and repelled Germany's advance at the river Marne. (This was during WWI. Figured you wouldn't know that).
