Theres this misconception thats been present since debating in Naruto vs since its inception. The misconception being that if two characters have an equal score in a select category that the mentioned characters are equal in that regard. This is false, to an extent. I'll be showing you how comparing two Shinobi via their databook scores is not recomend in certain cases.

First Case; Speed

The best instance to show you in regard to speed is Sasuke vs Deidara. They have equal scores in speed, 4.5s respectively. Yet Sasuke on numourous occasions put Deidara on the run [ ][ - ]. Showcasing that Sasuke is much faster than Deidara; which the latter mentions [ ]

Take note that Sasuke used Shunshin to advance towards Deidara. While Shunshin is an essential part of a characters speed. Its is a Ninjutsu, and therefore not accounted for in the characters speed score.

Second Case; Strength

By the same token, Strength is measured in its un-augmented state in the Databook.

Sakura in the Databook, rates a 3 out 5. Whilst Naruto and Sasuke have 3.5s. While its quite clear that Naruto considers Sakura physically stronger than him [ - ] nor has Naruto or Sasuke shown any feats that put them anywhere close to when Sakura used Ōkashō. The reason being is that Ōkashō uses augmented chakra enhanced strength, which again, is considered Ninjutsu.

Conclusion:

Using Databook scores as a means of comparing characters is unreliable as the databook only uses unenhanced base scores for strength and speed. Modes such as RM, SM, or BM arent accounted for in them. They also don't account for Sharingan or anything else that isn't their own muscle strength or leg speed.

I thought this was obvious. It's more apparent when comparing Gai, Lee, and Itachi. All have 5's in Taijutsu. Clearly they are not equals in taijutsu.

You'd be surprised how many people still do the opposite though.

1. Base statistics

2. Limited score number (5)

Those are its biggest flaws as WHO fights constantly in base mode?! And like Necromancer said with Lee, Gai, and Itachi

Sasuke has sharingan precognition.
Sakura uses CES. ( thats why she has only 3 points. )

Btw, the Databook includes the BASE STATS of a character.

People still consider the databook as an infallible source?

It isnt faulty. Db stats can be at times very reliable and gives us an insight on a characters abilities.

Orochimaru and Itachi have 5 in genjutsu. We know how that went. Some databook scores are nice though.

itachi doesn't have a 5 in taijutsu. just a 4.5. remember its not his forte despite his skill in said area of combat.

I guess Data books come in handy when understanding data you don't fully understand. Comparing data using individual literal imagination is why we have most of the vs. debates.

Well Sasori had 4 in taijutsu stats.
According to databooks; he would be able to defeat early part 1 Lee(who had 3,5) in a taijutsu battle. Which is unlikely.

Databooks are reliable; but the fact that they don't involve any enhancements changes a lot for certain characters.

Why? Part1 Lee is weak without notable feats against Kage + ninjas.

When it comes to skill-based stats like nin/tai/gen jutsu, there are usually other elements that affect how well they implement their skills, one example being taijutsu.

Taijutsu is considered a person's hand-to-hand combat ability. Now while taijutsu by itself has many different styles that can be more useful against other people, speed, strength, reflexes/reaction time, and a bit of predictive ability are all contributing factors in how well a person can hold up against another foe in a taijutsu battle. Other factors are certain techniques and KKG that may further alter how a person uses taijutsu or may give a certain advantage that others don't have naturally. (ex: Sharingan, Byakugan, Shikotsumyaku, 8 Gates, Gentle Fist)

The same could be said for Ninjutsu and the vast jutsus that emcompass its entirety. It all depends on how fast a person an execute the hands seals and how high their stamina is in order to perform the jutsu.

Genjutsu is reliant on how intelligent and perceptive a person is as well as how good their chakra control is, since using genjutsu is by itself considered very hard to do and only a scarce amount of people have been seen using it.
