Establishing why Sasuke's characterization and devlopment is greater than Naruto's

I don't care how many people get emotionally hurt over my comment, but to even grasp Sasuke's character one needs to have certain knowledge of Literature, especially Greek Classics and Aristotle's Poetics. Sasuke's characterization has been mediocre at best since Five Kage Summit. Half this thread is nothing more than bias interpretation and bullshit, but I respect your opinion nonetheless. I find Naruto's superior.

Type one coherent paragraph explaining to me that Naruto ever developed beyond trying to establish his socialization status and to procure the Hokage seat and to save just about everyone. His one line, "people will live happily ever after" defines his entire character. Seriously, I challenge any Naruto fan. One decent paragraph justifying any of this.

Naruto maintaining his beliefs isn't necessarily a bad thing; he's just a more static character. Similarly, Sasuke constantly changing his mind isn't necessarily a good thing. These archetypes exist in all literature; the reason that some are perceived as better than others comes down to the execution of the author and the opinion of the reader.

Here's why I disagree:

Everytime something drastic happened, his personality completely changed and it was almost as if all the development he had prior was completely reset and he became a new character.

i.e: when he left the village, when he learned the truth about Itachi, when he talked to the dead Kage

I disagree. The war arc was largely about the to-and-though between naruto and obitos ideals and whether narutos ideals were true and can withstand the test of time. Naruto had elements of light and shade throughout all the while being mixed with issues surround loss it his friends, friends returning, fathers returning and so one. Narutos maturity reached an absolute peak when he schooled obito on what it means to be hokage. This talk also showed that whilst narutos goal is still to be hokage the reasons behind it are far less shallow then they were during his childhood.

The majority of the war has been build around narutos character development so I'd have to respectfully disagree. Sasukes characterisation is still undefined, and murky. The latest chapter is a good example whilst naruto was having some heart felt final words sasuke was just randomly chucked into panels like a sad faced emoticon.

Sasuke is a realistic character compare to Naruto. Anybody else in naruto's shoes would've destroy that village a long time ago or left.

Eh, some of this does seem more like unusual comparison between the two power wise. Namely at the beginning. But Sasuke's one of the characters Kishi has been able to constantly improve and keep interesting.

Specifically Sasuke during his Taka moments. I felt that his reactions to the twisted lie Itachi told him was pretty great.

I'm pretty sure majority of Sasuke fans haven't read Aristotle's poetics. He isn't even that much of an intricate character, there is a Sasuke and Naruto in MANY other manga. And the way he constantly changes is pretty bad, especially recently. Although, I do agree Sasuke is more interesting than Naruto.

After Itachi's death, he tried to remain the same but he got too greedy with revenge, so he start to not give a **** and found pleasure in his power. Once he talked to the kages, he kinda went back to his old way, only do whatever it take to get rid of evil in the world. He a realistic character. So really this "constantly changes" is a serious stretch.

I don't care who has read what. Since you haven't even read tragedies, how can you venture he isn't? How many people here have read Literature Criticism? How many have actually read Ezra Pound or Samuel Johnson or Alexander Pope etc criticism? One needs knowledge to decipher characters and stories.

There is nothing interesting about Naruto's character and his development has been lacking in many categories. Compared to Sasuke, he is nothing.

I guess you're right, still the way he changed his views on Itachi so quickly, and drastically. Also, making his goal to kill Itachi was pretty quick as well.
