:( sad times
Yeah, they were probably my favorite characters, or somewhere in the top five. xd

Anywho, I can't wait until the fourth book, but he's really taking his time lol. I guess the new dragon rider is going to be shown (they said that the cover is going to be a green dragon, and so far we haven't seen any). Though I think that Eragon might die at the end when he finally fights Galbatorix. O_O For some reason I think that Eragon is going to die, and the new dragon rider will finish off Galbatorix.

Though he's going to pwn now that he has Glaedr's Eldunari.

Its been over a year since ive read the books, but i think eragon will live but leave the known world with saphira in the end with the remaining dragon rider/riders, i think murtag will die to save eragon, and as for the last dragon rider, id say roran or the elf woman eragon loves who i cant seem to think of her name...

Its such a shame that the eragon film let the book down so much and was so far off the story, they cant continue the series of films with the trash they made it into in my opinion.

who do you think the new rider will be?

I read only the first book although i have been meaning to read the other two( just been too lazy xd). I will say that it is an interesting story so far...i didn't really care for it. Now, the Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks, are the best book i have ever read...Just saying(opinion), I don't think any book i will ever read will beat the Night Angle story. It's just that awesome.O.O

-_-...that doesn't even make any sense at all, that you're even considering that. Eragon is the main character, making him die even before he's even killed Galbatorix would completely dislocate and screw the entire plot. Three books have been made just for that moment, three books have been made just so that Eragon could grow stronger and be prepared for his fight with Galbatorix. There's not a single writer that ever would do such a thing as it destroys the entire series.
That would be the same as Frodo dying and not throw the ring into Mount Doom while he carried it all the way there or that Harry Potter would die just before he would kill the last piece of Voldemort's soul o_O.
Everything was prepared for Eragon, do you really think they are going to let him die and give the honour to a new rider that has barely any experience at all (if not zero) as when should he have gained that? There is no time till there's peace to train that person.

What you're saying is something even worse than blasphemy.

Also it's not because the cover is a green dragon it's going to be play an important role. It's very likely that dragon is the last egg, however Thorn was the cover dragon of the second book and still he only appeared in the last chapter, same goes for Brisingr. So it doesn't mean it's going to have a real important rol in the book.

And don't forget Angela's prediction, as I recall she said Eragon would have a difficult life, but he would live long =/

I think that the rider and the last dragon will appear somewhere against the end of the book and my guess is after Galbatorix is already dead as then Eragon becomes the master and that rider his pupil. Seems a pretty reasonable end, at least better than Eragon dying and some unkown person that just appeared with almost zero power kills the main villain WTH. Especially when you consider that if Eragon dies, Saphira should die too as the pain of loosing your rider is monsterous. Which writer is going to let one of his two maincharacters die just before the climax and let the other go mad or comitting suicide? Not to mention that Saphira is last female dragon. If Eragon dies, so will the specie of dragons.

No I think the last dragon and rider are just the symbols for the next generation of riders.

And where would they go and why would they go away? Saphira wants to keep the dragon specie alive and Eragon probaly the riders. Who else will keep an eye on Alagaesia to prevent something like Galbatorix ever will happen.

No idea who the last rider will be, but without any doubt it will not be Roran. Why? Because again that would be a complete dislocation of the plot. He embodies the strength of normal people, people that don't know anything about magic or have special weapons or beasts. He won of an Urgal in wrestling and killed 200 men in one battle. For what? To protect Katrina. If he becomes a rider, that means he will have the same lifespan as an elf...he will outlive Katrina and while he stays young she grews old O_O.

Arya is possible, maybe if Eragon and her get a child it becomes the last rider, who knows.

I laughed at this and cant remember why but the idea of harry potter dying before the end would of been alot better xd

They would leave with the last rider/dragon/dragons? to a place away from humans and elves maybe to help restore the order of the dragon riders?

Oh yeh i forgot he was roran stronghammer, i guess he will get some elf/dwarf weapon to make him stronger....

That sounds possible to me, but i dont think they will get together until the end... Arya stands as the best candidate in my eyes but apart from that i dont know who it could be? Maybe a dwarf rider? the first one? lol

To where and why? It's not like humans nor elves nor dwarves are a threat to them. Not to mention that when Galbatorix is dead a powervacuum rises. Eragon said himself he doesn't want to be king, nor would it be smart to place a rider on the throne. However it is not possible to not involve the riders in the making of the new age.

And why should they leave to somewhere far away to resurrect the riders? What use does it have the resurrect them if they leave? Not to mention that it will be a lot harder to resurrect them if they leave considering most of the knowledge and stuff they need is in Alagaesia.

I believe that they will want to leave the known world as they dont want history to repeat itself...

By leaving you increase the risk of that happening again and didn't you already said that they maybe want to restore the order of the riders? Then you're contradicting yourself as making it here or there doesn't matter, if you don't want history to repeat itself they just should die and it's over.

Im confusing myself here, i think they would want to restore the riders but away from where they are not (forgot the name) and let the dwarves, men urgals and elves learnt to work together and what not.

im not really sure, i jsut want the last book :p

Note i agree with caliburn because what he said is true and there is no holes in what his argument states. Also this isnt the end of the book series its gonna continue after the fourth into another trilollgy and different sets of books further beyond this.

The next book will be the last of this series. Originally it was Paolini's intention to make a trilogy, but during the writing of Brisingr he came to the conclusion it would become to long, so he decided to make a fourth book.
Unless he changed his mind again, the next one will be the last and I haven't even heard the slightest rumour this wouldn't be the last.

However it's of course possible (and very likely) that Paolini is going to write more books related to Alaga?sia as he has the space for it. He already made hundreds of references to its past, so he can write dosens of books from the time the Riders still existed and even before that or even long after Eragon's time with new main characters. JRR Tolkien did exactly the same, he wrote his entire life on the history of Middle-Earth and JK Rowling did it with the books of 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them', 'Quidditch Through the Ages' and 'The Tales of Beedle the Bard'

Nontheless it's certain at this point that the fourth book will be the last with the empasis on this adventure.

Ah but thats where the fun lies because no one knows but the author about its either being the end or another continue ation of the story so if you think about it wich idk if ya will the story in plain sight could be another lord of rings not saying it is could be but diffrent retro spects and a whole diffrent language... if your getting my drift here *Caliburn*
