I don't mind either... I watched the dubbed version until FUNimation ran out of episodes, then I picked up the sub. Following that, I picked up the manga.
A few notes inb4 'voices don't match in the dub'/hipster weaboo whining...
Toei asked FUNi to send the top 5 auditions of each Straw Hat (and some major villains... Eneru being one). Then, the executives over there AND Oda himself chose the one they thought sounds appropriate.
As for the names ('WHY ENERU AND NOT ENEL??'), FUNimation (and Viz) has a master list of the names that was sent to them by Toei. Unless they have a very solid argument for changing the name, they've to stick to the list.
I don't know about other anime but FUNi works its ass off to dub the anime as accurately as possible. Yes, minor mistakes are possible but they're getting better at it. As for acting, I won't say that they are better than the Japanese actors but they're very good. You can even compare the improvement if you watch early One Piece episodes and then the Water 7 stuff.
So please, at least try to evaluate rationally before jumping at the conclusion that the dub is always supposed to be horrible.
PS: 4KIDS... Now THAT was a horrible dub
Edit: Some of the things are easier to understand in the dub. For example, Kaku's dialect. Despite being young, he speaks like an old man. It was just easier to grasp in the English dub.
Obahan time is another good example of how a show's dub should be adapted for the English speaking audience.
