If the edo's weren't present Hiruzen would've had more chakra and stamina to seal Orochimaru, but due to him having to use clones he no longer had that stamina.

Truthfully Hiruzen doesn't need RDS to win but if I say anything other than RDS you would probably respond with he tanks that or he uses Oral rebirth when in that time in the manga that jutsu wasn't even thought of yet so to save myself the trouble RDS.

I don't appreciate your sarcasm when in my post I wasn't entirely disregarding oral Rebirth however due to it not being revealed until part 2 I wouldn't really use that as a counter. But anyways hiruzen holds an intelligence of 5 and after numerous attempts at killing Orochimaru he would realize that he can't be killed so easily and resort to RDS.

I am actually pretty smart but I'm not such a fanboy like yourself that it influences the outcome of the battle.

Hiruzen has shown nothing, besides RDS, that can stop Orochimaru. Hiruzen, at that age, is simply outclassed.
