Me and a friend of mine were just arguing about this and so i decided to end this argument. Hit me with your best shot.

1. Minato's FTG has an obvious flaw. In foreign territory, he would have to go through the process of spreading all his kunai all over again.

LOL although if you'll notice it seems as though he throws alot more kunai than he originally has in his pouch XD
That said, I doubt Itachi would have any problem deflecting every kunai - or no not EVERY single one, but deflecting those that would be heading closest to his perimeter. His shurikenjutsu is incredible after all. But hey, dont just take my word for it.

Not only is he shown to nail every target, even the one in his blind spot, but even accurately uses one kunai to deflect another.
As such, Minato seems excellent with kunai as well, however it would be fair to say he is not at Itachi's level, Itachi's skill boosted by his sharingan reading the speeds of every projectile launched at him and by him. Still any doubts? . Not to mention Itachi's god-speed hand seals that even Kakashi with his sharingan couldn't read.

2. Minato's attack strategy is quite simple once you get down to it. Launch his kunai and as soon as the moment appears, also mark the opponent.

However this strategy would only come to fruition if the opponent is in the range of a touch. The same goes for his rashengan techniques. Come to think of it, Minato doesn't really seem like a long-range fighter does he? Not to mention that the shun-shin no jutsu is written on paper. So in deflecting his kunai, well, . this could happen.

3. Contrary to what some of you obtuse fanboys think, Minato would not be teleporting non-stop. At some point in the fight, he has to stop and try to come up with a strategy. I've heard way too many times, "You can't hit wht you can't touch" - which is oh so true. However, Itachi doesnt have to lay a finger on him, just at him. Regardless of knowing not to look into an Uchiha's eyes, Minato would already be at a disadvantage. Just a single point of the finger and there goes his mind.

4. Gamabunta could not handle Ita's Susanoo + Totsuka blade and Yata Mirror.
Its quite obvious that Gamabunta couldn't take on Itachi's Susanoo at close nor long range. His sword could not take on Susanoo's already tough defense, plus the Yata mirror. At long range his fire attacks would be no different, except make him vulnerable to Itachi's magatama attack.

BOTTOM LINE: Minato victory = very close-range combat. Itachi: NO.
Minato = peak physical attack. Itachi: Genjutsu

So i hope i nvr hear a word of this argument again. Bear in mind Itachi would not win easily as the person he's facing IS the fourth hokage, however he would still win.
FACT: Itachi is one of the only characters in Naruto who has never been truly beaten. Hashirama and the S06P are the other two. Minato died.

As said, by Itachi himself, "Every Jutsu has a weakness..."

not at all sir. first of all, FTG kunai are heavier than normal kunai, much less shuriken, so they will be hard to deflect much. you're also assuming that ITachi has full knowledge on ftg and won't dodge one. Minato can teleport up to half a room away from his kunai it seems from his battle with Tobi. ie he can easily get within shunshin distance to just touch Itachi, or even rasengan him.

your premised, correct me if i'm wrong, is based around Itachi keeping Minato unable to get close with genjutsu and susanoo. A strategy that, against the fastest and teleporting character, is doomed to fail. Minato never looked in Tobi's eyes once he had wrenched the kyuubi from his contro, he knows the sharingan's capabilities. and you may notice that in the finger genjutsu Itachi was also unable to move, so unless you think that Minato will be beaten by a genjutsu Naruto almost beat with his at the time crappy chakra control, I don't much see the use of it.

as to Susanoo, it's an able defence for a short time, as with Minato's current arsenal he's unable to get through it, not unless the theories that he can warp inside susanoo provided he's marked itachi are true. however, susanoo is a chakra taxing technique and itachi can only use it for minutes at best. it is fairly cumbersome and neither it's arms, nor yasanaka magatama, nor the totsuka sword are fast enough to deal a killer blow.

if we include amaterasu, Ay sensed it, Nagato sensed it, Bee and Sasuke actually prevented ITachi from using it with kunai and shuriken. plus, it's slow burning and a sealing master won't have too much trouble with that- neither karin nor the samurai were dealt lasting damage. nagato was screwed because kabuto was listening to itachi's conversation about shishui, otherwise he would have used ST immediately.

so on one hand- we have a teleporter with knowledge of how to fight the sharingan, who just needs to touch his opponent to have the overwhelming adv, and who's incredibly deadly in short range, and whose arsenal we've yet to see. on the other hand we have a sharingan user who just needs to perform tsukuyomi, a jutsu which by all accounts isn't quick to activate either, itachi needs to activate the ms, close his eyes, then do it. personally I think there's much more chance of Minato winning, there are many ways to avoid an uchiha's eyes like gai's method, bunshin, teleporting, smoke bombs etc

Thank you my good sir. I really like talking with ppl who know their stuff. However:

1. Yes FTG kunai are heavier than normal kunai, but a jutsu such as would more than likely cause a deflection due to increased power as well as the chance of burning the FTG seal upon impact. And you my good sir are assuming that Itachi wouldn't know about the technique of the infamous Yellow Flash? nt a chance. Thus i presume that Itachi would make sure to keep his distance, as well as his sharingan keeping track of every kunai thrown.

2. Itachi wasn't trying to kill Naruto obviously. I hate it when you guys use this example. The fact is that even if Minato avoids eye-contact, Itachi casting Tsukuyomi through his finger was not known to him. And as i've stated before, Minato would not be in 'eternal FTG mode' XD teleporting non-stop throughout the fight. At some point he has to stop and think, still avoiding eye-contact but still falling victim to Itachi's finger.

3. Please bear in mind that Susanoo would only come into the picture against Gamabunta. To which it would hail superior to the frog summon.

4. Casting amaterasu on the FTG kunai isn't impossible is it?

5. Lets say Minato lands a hit on Itachi (even if that happened). That would undoubtedly mean close body range. It doesn't seem impossible for Itachi to activate a genjutsu at that point. Lets not forget the fact that the sharingan can predict movements, though not while Minato is in space-time, but after he emerges (at the only point where he can strike).

6. In all fairness Itachi would also have alot of info on Minato. Therefore keeping his distance would be known. Incredibly deadly at short range won't help if ur opponent keeps his distance, deflects every kunai and prepares his genjutsu. YES there are many ways to avoid an uchiha's eyes, however the Uchiha know that too.

Obviously Itachi. Minato FTG's to try to hit Itachi but Itachi dissolves into crows. Then Minato goes "****", and then he sees himself tied to a cross with two Itachi's stabbing him for 72 hours. After Itachi is done playing with him, he slashes his throat with a kunai and leaves.

Tobi had full knowledge of it, he was his student, and still got smashed.

So no, he wouldn't.

minato wins it, his reflexes and synapses is already very high so getting him in a genjutsu will be incredibly hard, plus their are other ways like gais method,as for itachi shurkin jutsu that might be the the one thing that gets itachi beat because if minato throws a bunch his kunai at itachi and itachi deflects them all hes gonna have't to pay attention to not only the place all the kunai landed because anyone of them can be used for a instant surprise attack plus have't to bear in mind that minato can also mark ANYTHING he wants to(an that right their will probably be another way itachi loses),totsoka and easily be dodged, as well as amateratsu, and people have't to remember that minatos has knowledge on how to fight a sharingan so that will also serve as a high purpose, plus if all goes to wrong summoning gamabunto will play a huge role as well, i just think minato win with mid difficulty, mainly because itachi will never EVER be able to hit minato with a physical attack plus minato is smarter and much much faster thinker than itachi.

Mintao cannot win against an MS user, I am really sorry to burst everyone's bubbles here. Sussano's erection is faster or as fast as a lightening strike whereas Mintao has to react first to teleport, or even think first for the better word. Compared to 4000 km/sec, thought speed is just abysmal and is a million times slower by logic. FTG maybe instant, but Mintao's thought or rationalization to command his muscles and the neural signals are sure as hell aren't.

Once Sussano is up, there is nothing Mintao can do to even scratch it. His Rasangan will be virtually useless, his summons destroyed with Amaterasu, Sussano sword, Ysaka Magatam, or genjutsued into doing Itachi's bidding. If he tries to teleport Itachi along with his Sussano with his S/T barrier, he is open to Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and finger genjutsu which Itachi can easily cast without his eyes and is quite powerful as well. Mintao's FTG kunais are wiped out by Amatersu easily, and he'll be a sitting duck on the battle field unless he doesn't completely vacate it.

Teleportation inside Sussano is just farfetched non-sense as Mintao directly teleports exactly where FTG kunai is, or where he has placed a tag. There is nothing in the manga to suggest otherwise, so please stop with your assumptions. He loses low-mid difference.

^ Tobi was an inexperienced kid, who lost to a hokage. Whoop-de-doo.

I still proved you wrong.

And he was hardly an inexperienced kid. If not for Tobi's attack the series wouldn't exist.

Tobi is the ultimate evil in the Narutoverse. He's the reason Naruto doesn't have parents, the reason the Uchiha were massacrated.

I believe I talked about Sussano afterwards, and his experience matters. Ultimately, it's Minato who lost actually, not Obito. Evil? Matter of opinions.

Minato certainly beat him, even if Minato had to worry about other things.

We know everything Itachi has to over and less than half of Minato has to offer. In spite of that you can still make a case for Minato winning. How's that going to translate when we discover everything Minato has to offer?

"Ending it all" would be appropriate if we actually knew of everything Minato has to offer.

You can make a feat-based case for Minato winning if you're brain-dead.

(Narrative-wise, they're about equal.)

  • Hiraishin
v
  • Kotoamatsukami
  • Tsukuyomi
  • Amaterasu
  • Susano'o
  • Legendary items
  • Izanami
  • Izanagi

Minato has more that we don't know about, but based on feats, it's freaking obvious.

One ninja has far more feats, and many more top-tier tools.

(Itachi also has clones and better base tools/skills shown.)
