Read this article:

This stuff has to stop at some point. :/

Here's the short version:

Employers are now asking potential new hires to "voluntarily" open their facebook and other social media accounts, and go through their pictures, messages, etc. while the employer "shoulder surfs". Being "voluntary", the employers can't force you to agree to this--but then there is no guarantee that they won't hire you if you say no(since you can't prove it).

Government agencies are starting to make this mandatory--which I can understand to a point(if you are applying for a job that requires a security clearance). The problem is, many non-governmental employers are starting to do this as well. This is a blatant over-stepping of boundaries as the information on your page is still, technically, personal information--and should be private.

...of course that is impossible with facebook and google anyway...

Don't care if I have to live in an alleyway in Toledo, I will not give my employers my facebook info. They won't even be allowed to view my page. They have no right, and I'd tell them straight up to suck a **** if they demanded it of me.

I deactivated my facebook account a long time ago. Facebook and privacy do not go together in any way. period. If you're on facebook and think you will have any hint of privacy, you're just a fool. Everything you say and do is put up for the world to see, and the only way to stop that is to not go on facebook.

I just deactivated my facebook account ~2 weeks ago. It's a shame that there are so many people that don't know/understand/care about the invasions into their privacy...
