[Discussion] Edo Tensei interesting plot device, or cop out?

I'm beginning to think they should alter the manga's title from 'Naruto' to 'Zombie Ninja Apocalypse.' Seriously, when did it become OK to abuse the same technique over and over and over again ::cough::Rasengan? Perhaps I'm a little bitter that Kishi brought back Minato. Not that I don't want to see all of the Hokages in action, but a part of me wonders if perhaps it's better for us not to know anymore than we already do. On some level I think it takes away the grandeur of their legacies by reanimating all of these dead shinobi. I'm going to give Kishi the benefit of the doubt on this one in hopes that he sends another masterful curve ball our way, but seriously I'm just a bit tired of the undead army.

Dude same here! Seriously if you really feel passionate about the Edo Tensi not playing such an important role then write a fan fic. I have written one about the tailed beast/ jink's abilities because I didn't like the abilities displayed in the manga but I didn't whine about how only 4 people took on 6 enhanced/perfect edo-jink's/ tailed beast and obito and were not destroyed almost instantly. This is his multi-million dollar baby, let it be.

I liked it, but Kishi no doubt pulled a regular Kishi-move/Kishi-jutsu-destroyer. I see where you are coming from but I would be more pissed that he has now took the DDCS (Dead Demon Consuming Seal) and did the same thing he did with Edo-Tensei, Rasengan, etc...

Now there is a way to undo DDCS? The ONE jutsu/technique that hadn't been changed (by that I mean the original guidelines were still intact) was DDCS and now it is as good as gone.

How does that add to your point: I understand how you feel about this turning into a Zombie-Manga, but Edo-Tensei is still or at least WAS a huge, HUGEEEE technique to Kabuto/Obito/Madara (Axis of Evil or whatever you want to call them) and made the perfect compliment to Hashi's DNA Experiments AKA Zetsu. Now it is so watered down and DDCS was always the ultimate counter to
IWR/Edo-Tensei, but is now soured by Orochimaru who by the way just to throw this in there: if he truly was inside Kabuto and knows and learned as much as Kabuto did since Oro "died" what is stopping him from taking on not only the Alliance but Madara and Obito, in fact both sides combined. Between the emotional destruction it will cause (imagine Naruto seeing his father like that?!)
and the fact that Madara himself would probably shake in his boots, the un-doing of DDCS has now made or AT LEAST allows Orochimaru to be the winner of this entire thing.

I do agree with everything the 2 first repliers said, but I do see your point just with some of my own thoughts added into it. I love Kishi and Naruto but now that DDCS was used and abused, nothing is safe in the Narutoverse.

EDIT: I don't see your post as a flame and I kind of understand why other people are...but the topic of the thread itself is interesting plot device or Cop-Out? I am going to go with interesting plot device, but I can understand where you are coming from.

if you really think about it, all manga work that way. the person has a special move that they spam. Goku was spirit bomb, luffy ,is just a increasingly more powerful punch, or kick. NAruto is his rasengans. You cant honestly expect a character to keep using different moves all the time, it would be kinda boring. Manga characters have their signiture moves. Deal with it. Uchiha spam sharingan/ms techniques. Sakura spams punches, naruto rasengans kiba his gasuga hyugas gentle fist, etc. So the same techs will be used always. It is how they are used and the timeing and what led up to their usage that makes it interesting or boring. Edo tensei at first was cool. Then it was epic, when kabuto made an army, and revived kabuto. then it became kinda stale when madara stuck around, and the edos got beat more easily. Now it is exicting again because with the exception of tsunade, all the hokages are back. And the reason it is so exciting, is before when they were first revived, we knew nothing of them. Now we know how op they were, and we want to see more of their abilities.


But the hokages being revived(at least hashi) was pretty obvidious to me that a hashi like figure would begin to fight madara(as he said like 5 times only hashi can stop me. It was all but confirmed it would happen, when sasuke talked about the ones who know everything, first in the singular context, then in plural. So it had to be a group, and then oro refered to them as the members of the group. Also suigetsu randomly knowing about rds was a big give away.

I kinda agree with you, especially since Kabuto went over over the top with edo tensei; but, ok, cool we get to see some epic people who hopefully will do their epic stuff. And to be honest we all knew that it would take Hashirama to take down Madara. I don't know if he will actually join the battle, hopefully he will, but even giving some advice or making some suggestions could be useful (given Madara's powers and battle experience... seriously Naruto might acquire the power necessary to defeat Madara but he doesn't have half the experience of the guy... which still leaves Madara with the strategy/ technique advantage).

It would also be nice, if Minato faced Obito.

thats like saying using the dragonballs is a cop out. They've really only been using edo tensei in the war arc and when orochimaru attacked the leaf but the rest of the series has been zombie free, the series doesnt really revolve around this technique otherwise I might agree with you a little more. Besides only two people in the series can use it; kabuto and orochimaru.
