[Discussion] Edo Questions?

I have a question. People keep saying Orochimaru has 4 ex Hokage as a summoning but so does anybody who knows the edo tensei jutsu and has their DNA, AKA sleeping Kabuto. My question is if 2 people summon the same person with Edo Tensei what happens? Does the first summoner keep him, does the second summoner take him, are there now two edos of one person?

Edo can be cast simultaneously provided there is enough DNA and victim, there can be more than one similar Edos, coz it based on DNA itself as the main essence.

I don't think so. There is only one soul. You can't split the one soul between two or more bodies.

How do you know there's only one soul? A soul is an intangible abstract. To say only one soul can exist per person or ones soul can not dilute and split itself is unfounded.

And Ahhimane, If they're a "living" form of chakra that makes them living right. And every living thing has a soul right? Who's to say Chakra isn't the representaion of a soul in this manga? when Chakra runs completely out you die, and we know jutsu are made of physical chakra and spiritual chakra. This spiritual chakra may be the equivalent of a "soul" in the real world.

I agree that souls can be split, but I believe that that has certain ramifications.

I also agree with your hypothesis that the soul is probably spiritual energy. For many reasons that I'm too lazy to go into.

But...on splitting a soul? The only "split soul" that I can think of was Orochimaru's soul and thats all I can use to create a theory.

Souls in the Narutoverse seem to have a humanoid shape on some occasions as seen

. On other occasions, souls take on the form of a teardrop/comet shape or even a tomoe, especially when travelling. I'm sure you know what the effects were of splitting Orochimaru's soul. Judging from that it seems as though specific parts of the soul has a sort of functional relevance to the corresponding physical body parts. In other words, dividing a soul seems to have similar effects to splitting a physical body.

So, my guess as to what would happen if you split the soul in half and somehow managed to put the two pieces into two different vessels would be that the two Edo's would lack functioning of the bodyparts that have corresponding pieces of soul missing. This is kinda what we saw happen when Hiruzen cut off the part of Orochimaru's soul that corresponds to his arms. Orochimaru lost the functioning of his arms. But, when Orochimaru freed his arm from the Shinigami's belly you could see it only affecting Orochimaru's arms as seen

What about old ass Madara. He infused some life force of his into that white Zetsu to turn him black. I think that was part of his soul, or his consciousness at the least, which is why it was black as Madara has a "black" soul.

Also I agree about the ramifications, I should have mentioned that earlier that was another idea maybe by splitting the soul they would each get a significantly weaker or malfunctioning Edo.
