Would Madara have been able to accomplish his goal had Edo Hashirama removed those Chakra rods from his body when he had Edo Madara suppressed.

Side-note...How did Madara absorb Sage Mode from Hashirama when he didn't have Sage Mode activated?

Any form of madara bar EMS or lower forms wins against hashirama. Edo madara was buying time against him. He wasn't fighting seriously.
As for absorbing SM, he probably used hashirama's body to channel nature energy if he hadn't SM active.

Yeah which he succeeded in doing so. He was never in a hurry. He stated himself that he wanted to play around with hashirama for awhile. Otherwise why would he stop hashirama in the first place since he was going to fight obito anyway. He could have sit idle and let hashirama join SA as well.

What about the possibility of Obito erasing Hashirama? and in chp 639, he was worried about Obito activating IT before he could play his trump card.

In chp 641, he repeated that he had no time for fighting Hashirama and said he had no options...so I don't think he was playing around.

Yes but he was clearly keeping tabs on obito as he had hashirama pinned with black rods. So he could have immobilized him right there thus ending wood dragon binding. He was waiting for obito to be defeated or at least weekend, as he himself thanked naruto. Even with hashirama's SM, madara would have been no match for full power obito. He knew that well too. He couldn't have ended hashirama and went on to fight obito before he was weakend. But you do got a point. He was a bit worried about obito near the end. But his attitude towards hashirama was totally non-serious. Not at all like his vote fight where he feared losing.
