Wow, thanks for the fast reply :-D
Btw, what bio are you using to train me ? xD
. . . . . . .

I listen intently to Senpai's explanation of the next method. Everything sounds pretty straight forward so when he asks,
"Any questions?"
I shake my head and reply,
"Nope, everything sounds pretty clear. I have no questions at the moment Senpai."

And this bio does not have a specific name ?

.....

Senpai continued and says,

Now I want you to tell me how you'd perform the following

  • Create several earthen spikes to skew your opponent
  • Raise a large wall of earth beneath your feet
  • Create a dome of earth around you

Since I had been deprived of bloody cake this whole time I had to think over how to answer Senpai's instructions for a good time. It took me awhile but eventually I thought of some feasible answers. Clearing my cake deprived throat I began,

"Senpai, to create all of the said things, I would gather my chakra up inside my body and mold this chakra into doton chakra. I'd then send this doton chakra into the ground by channeling my doton chakra from my body and through my feet which are firmly planted to the ground as I do so. Once my doton chakra has been channeled into the ground below me, using shape manipulation I can manipulate areas of the ground where I had released my chakra into to create the things asked. "

"In the case of the earth spikes, I would simply concentrate my doton chakra in the ground (below the ground's surface) which is in a relatively close proximity to my opponent. Short range from them would be ideal, but no more than mid range. I'd use shape manipulation to mold this area of ground into several earth spikes that were slanted in my opponents direction i.e. Not vertical. Once I had done this, I would use my doton chakra to thrust the spikes out of the ground and in the direction of my opponent, hopefully impaling them. I may have to use shape manipulation for the duration of the technique in case I have to make the spike bigger or something like that."

"As for raising a large wall beneath my feet, I'd concentrate my doton chakra I had released into the ground in the area directly beneath my feet and the area surrounding my feet which will cover the distance to roughly how large I want my wall to be. i.e. a certain length and width. I'd then mold the earth that this chakra was concentrated upon into the desired shape of my wall. i.e. A pillar can be considered a type of wall so in this case I'd use shape manipulation to mold the earth into a circular or square shape. I'd then simply manipulate my doton chakra to move upwards within the earth which should as a result make the earth it is inside, rise with it (rising in the shape it was molded into of course)."

"To create an earth dome around myself I'd concentrate my doton chakra in a circular outline around myself, a good few metres from me with me at the center of this circle and like with the wall, I'd lift my chakra upwards and as a result the earth around the outline of this circle shall lift upwards. As it does so, I'd use shape manipulation to make the rising earth slope inwards to the center of the circle in a dome shape ultimately concealing me inside within a hollow area."

I finished and Senpai closed his eyes seemingly absorbing all this information. I took my chances then; drawing a carefully stowed away piece of cake from my trowsers pocket. I stuff it in my mouth hoping I can consume it before Senpai finishes assessing with his eyes closed...

As I wait for Senpai's reply, his face screws up and his eyes narrow.

"Senpai...I'm senpai not sensei"

He resembled my Taijutsu teacher, so I had got confused. But still, Senpai got so grumpy fast..

"Anyway, give me the advantages and disadvantages to this method. No need for strategy this time around, i'm changing up my it up for this method and beyond."

Energized from my earlier piece of cake, I am able to think more clearly than before and come up with some answers.

"Okay Senpai, well there are some clear advantages for this method. One of these advantages is that this method tends to allow you to change the characteristics of the landscape. This is an advantage as it can make the landscape undurable for an opponent as it becomes too treacherous, rugged etc meaning there is great risk that they could get injured, i.e. Chasms ,fissures in the ground could mean that an opponent could potentially fall into them.
For example, the following technique."

(Doton: Doryūkatsu) - Earth Release: Earth Flow Divide
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short/Long
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user will first perform the required hand seals Rabbit → Boar → Rat → Horse → Tiger → Snake and then by flowing concentrated chakra from one's palms into the Dragon Veins flowing underground, one can tear the earth apart, creating large chasms by firstly raising the earth in the desired location and then splitting that peice of earth through the center. The length, width, direction, and curve of the chasm are all up to the user. Manipulating the Dragon Veins requires fine chakra control, but if one has such skill, they can use this technique to divide the space between the enemy and their own team in two, destroy enemy camps or defences, and even to attack.
Note: This does not split the earth appart directly to cause opponents to fall in the fissure.

"Also by changing the characteristics of the landscape, you could potentially stop techniques being able to be used altogether. For instance, you can combine pre existing water with an earth manipulation technique to get mud. As a result, the water becomes mud, thus preventing water techniques that require a pre existing water source to be used if that was the only water source on site. Of course, you could only do this in a concentrated water source... not something like the ocean. For example, by using the following technique and channeling it into a pre-existing water source like a small pond or a flowing river (as water flows into area it becomes mud) you turn the water source into mud."

(Doton: Doro Hōshi) - Earth Release: Mud Spore
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Long
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: N/A
Description: This technique lets the user summon a river of mud infront of them. This technique can have water added to it to speed up the flow and increase its power.

"The fact that you can change the characteristics of the landscape can also mean the landscape becomes more beneficial for your use. For example, some techniques create a lot of loose rock like the following technique;"

(Doton: Tsuchi Douyou no Hira) – Earth Release: Earth Shaking Palm
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: N/A
Description: After performing snake hand seal the user slams their hand on the ground. The result is that the ground becomes heavily turned up with chunks of rubble popping out of the ground. This technique is used as a means to distract opponents to either create an escape or follow through with a surprise attack.

"The loose rock can then be used for various techniques from other earth manipulation techniques, all the way to wind style techniques. The following techniques for example,"

(Doton: Gansetsukon) - Earth Release: Rock Section Cane
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary/Offense
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: 20
Description: This technique allows the user to take a small chunk of rock and turn it into the shape of a staff. The user can then use it as a melee weapon or throw it with pinpoint accuracy at their opponent. A variation of this technique allows the user to create several staffs and launch them at the target, but with less accuracy.

(Fūton: Kaze Iwa Rendan) - Wind Release: Wind Rock Barrage
Rank: D
Type: Offensive
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 10
Damage points: 20
Description: The user creates a huge stream of wind that carries rocks that lifts the opponent into the air where the rocks hit them.

"Earth Manipulation Method also means that when you are fighting in an area that is rugged, treacherous you either have the advantage as you can cope with it, or you can change it to more of a desirable landscape. For example,"

(Doton: Uitenpen) - Earth Style: Wheel Of Fortune
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra cost: 30
Damage Points: N/A
Descripton: A form of summoning where the user first takes out a topographical map that they can use to change any earth-based feature of the battlefield.
Note: can only be used once per battle

"Further yet, when compared to Method 1: Own created, the range of which a lot of the techniques of the Environmental manipulation method reaches, seems to be far greater than the techniques in Own created. There also seems to be more of a range of defensive and offensive techniques in Environmental manipulation as opposed to Own created."

"What's more is some of the techniques in Environmental manipulation are less anticipatable than the techniques in own created. For example, in Own created, there are a lot of projectiles. Projectiles are often easier to anticipate and thus counter and avoid. Further yet, because you must manifest your earth chakra into whatever technique first, an opponent again has time to anticipate what's going on as they can see you manifesting your chakra in some cases i.e. body armour being created or spilling mud from your mouth etc. For environmental manipulation, a lot of technique creating occurs under ground where your opponent cannot see, and hence, it becomes harder for them to anticipate a technique and as a result counter it on time, if at all. For instance the following technique happens so quickly. It is near impossible for your opponent to realize what you are doing and to stop its effects in time."

(Doton: Yochi no Douyou) - Earth Release: World Shaking
Rank: C
Type: Offensive
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: 30
Description: The user will concentrate and release their chakra into the ground to create a small tremer that can result in harming the enemy target.

"Now that's all the major advantages I can think of. Now for the disadvantages. A major disadvantage I can see is me, myself, being caught up in or be disadvantaged by my own technique. For example the following techniques,"

(Doton: Iwayado Kuzushi) - Earth Style: Rock Lodging Destruction
Rank: B
Type: Offense
Range: Short/Long
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: 40
Description: The user performs the required hand seals Tiger → Rat → Snake and they then causes a cave-in by destroying the equilibrium that holds the cave together. Just removing a single vital stone throws off the balance of the cave, making it unexpectedly fragile and causing a domino effect that destroys the entire cave. The shinobi from Iwagakure use this technique in their pride tactic, luring several enemies into a cave to kill them all at once.

If I was in the cave, I could obviously be killed by my own move.

(Doton: Arijigoku no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Antlion Technique
Rank: B
Type: Offense
Range: Mid/Long
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: 40
Description: The user performs the Ram hand seal and causes causes the ground and everything on and around it to be sucked in towards the middle of a large pit, much like the method an antlion uses to catch prey. Upon being dragged to the centre, the victim will then be sucked underground. There the victim, depending on how deep the user makes them sink, will be trapped and/or suffocated. The range of the pit is determined by how much chakra is put into the technique.

I could easily be sucked in myself.

The tremor disadvantages my opponent, but also myself. i.e. difficult to remain stable, vision becomes shaky.

"Another disadvantage, is due to a lot of the techniques large destructive scales. Yes, this disadvantages your opponent, but it can also put your comrades at risk, if it is a battle inside your village - you can cause a great scale of destruction for them. Also, if you wanted to capture your opponent alive, you'd have to be really careful to when you use these techniques as there is a huge potential to accidentally crush them to death."

"Okay Senpai, that's all I have."

Perfect on the first part. Second part misses the point.

Though the techniques you listed for examples as for potential risk to you and your comrades (if any), that disadvantage is self initiated and controlled, meaning if you were to use these techniques where you'd be placing yourself in a less than satisfactory position, that is your choice and your ability to control it. Every technique has the potential to harm you or a comrade in some given situation, but it's the choice of the you, as the user, to decide how to use techniques.

Something you cannot control, however, is the ability to use a certain jutsu if there are pre-existing conditions that need to be met before hand, like this method. Tell me, how are you going to use these techniques without being connected to the earth, or being close enough to the earth to channel your chakra into it? Rhetorical question obviously. You can't. There are times when you're fighting and you won't be able to use these types of techniques since you're on a battlefield with sand instead of earth, or ontop of a water source, in the air, or fighting on a ground that prevents the usage of earth. That is a condition you cannot always control and that is why it is a disadvantage when considering these types of techniques.

Second part you mean disadvantages right? :| I suck at those T.T

. . . . . . . .

"Perfect on the first part. Second part misses the point."

Misses the point?! Well at least I got the first part right ..

I listen as Senpai continues..

I nod,
That makes a lot of sense.

I nod again, far more vigorously than before.
That was such an obvious disadvantage, how on earth had I missed it.

I think over Senpai's words for a moment before speaking.

"Okay Senpai, that makes a lot of sense. But before we move on, I have a question, How high in the air can you be to be able to channel your earth chakra into the earth? Like what's the limit?"

I'd personally say, don't go beyond short range. At the very least do not extend past the range allowed of a technique. If there are obvious things like "slamming your palm on the ground" or something along those lines, obviously you need to be connected. Though I would definitely say, stay close range to the ground, no more than mid.

Method 3: Advanced Conversions

This method is just like the last one, however, it involves changing the structural foundation of the earth as opposed to where previously, we were just focusing our chakra into the ground to create/manifest entities or manage techniques. These techniques in this method involve channeling one's chakra into the earth and changing the substance to create mud, sand, gravel, etc. These techniques fall into a different category than the previous method because of the fact that it's changing the substance from pure earth to something more refined and almost different entity all together, however, still being considered earth.
