First, tell me why you want to learn Earth and how you plan to use it in battle.

Oh hey there!

*Jumps up*

  • Well there are two reasons sensei: 1) Simply to try and master a new element 2) To be able to confidently overpower water in battle
  • Earth techniques can be used in many ways in battle, such as protecting the user or making the ground unstable under your opponents feet. I can also use earth to defend my self from an incoming water attack and even channel my lightning chakra through it as it is a good conductor of electricity. Furthermore, I can combine it with fire to produce lava, and combine it with water to produce mud in battle even though these are rarely used due to restrictions by the mud and lava elements.

I think what happened was that I forgot to subscribe to your thread, and I missed it in the updates. <.> My deep apologies.

Well said, let's go over your points.
-Knowledge is always a great thing! To know more, experience more, these are all great factors of life that we should never get enough of. Learning Doton is no exception, and it is a very creative element, alongside Water, so I hope you remember to have fun with your jutsus.
-Earth, as you stated, tends to be more defensive. After all, we do stand on earth, haha, and we can do a lot with it just by manipulating it in ways we see fit.
Actually, about your restrictions, the only things that you can not use would be the actual lava and mud techniques. It's natural that if you add water to earth, there will be mud. When I use a Wind/Fire technique that is hot enough and close to the ground, it's logical that the ground should also start melting in lava. A lot of doing well in RP is just using your brain. ^_^

Now, let's first begin with the basics of Doton.
Place your hand upon the rock next to you...send your chakra through it, and get a feel of the element.
Tell me how you think Earth Chakra flows.

No worries sensei, your hardwork is evident outisde this thread ^^

*Nods his head and takes in all what you've told me. I then approach a small rock and grip my palms firmly around it and begins to channel my chakra through it by focusing hard*

Well, I could imagine that earth chakra flow is jagged like surface of a rock, but yet the chakra is strong and sturdy as the rock itself.

Yes, unlike Lightning or Wind, earth jutsu is really solid and strong, almost like molding clay.
Now, as you place your hand upon that rock and try to create something (be creative), explain to me Earth's weakness and also what it is strong against.

*Nods head. Since I'm feeling a bit hungry, I picture a bowl in my head as a channel my chakra into the rock by keeping my hands firmly on it and maintaining focus. Slowly, the bowl begins to take shape as my mental image*

Well, earth is weak against lightning as it is a great conductor of electricity, on the other hand, it is strong strong against water.

So why is it strong against water?
And well done.
Proceed to create a weapon that could be:
  • Offensive.
  • Defensive.
  • Creative.

Well sensei, Earth would be strong against water since it can absorb the liquid until in which it becomes a muddy state ^_^

*Picks up another rock, and grips it in my palm. After this, I then begin to channel my chakra into the rock; at this point, I begin to picture a dagger in my mind, and by focusing hard, the rock forms into my mental image! I then begin to test the weapon by swinging it around in mid-air!

After this, I then clutch tight on the dagger again, and to begin to focus hard and channel my chakra into the dagger; at this same time, I start to imagine a large shield in my mind. Slowly, the dagger starts to change form into the shield, which is large enough to protect my chest and face.

Last, I clutch the handle of the shield tight and begin to channel my chakra into the shield, I then smirk to myself and say ''Something creative huh...?''. At this point, I begin to imagine a hammer like object, except larger in size to execute more heavy attack. As my skills have increase, the rock takes shape quicker! After, a mallet is formed! I begin swinging it around to test its weight.*

Well done. The point of RP is to have fun, while being creative. ^_^
(Doton No Jutsu) - Earth Release Technique
Rank: D
Type: Attack/Defence
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 10
Damage Points: 20
Descripton: Creates small pillars of earth, small tools, and small shields of earth

Anyways, for this next jutsu, I want you to send your Earth chakra within yourself and then become one with the Earth by sinking fully into it. Once you have, I will then place my clone on the place where you were originally. Then stick your hands out of the Earth, grab my clone around his legs, and then pull him deep into the Earth while pulling yourself out at the exact moment.

Okay sensei!

*I stand steadily on the earth below me, and find my balance so I stand perfectly still. I begin to feel the rough, rugged surface of the earth beneath my footwear and feel how each bump presses into my shoes. I think relax all the muscles in my body, and than imagine the earth and myself, as some sort of dough which slowly merges together; after focused concentration, I feel the weight of my body bringing me down into the earth, as if I'm sinking into quicksand. I become completely submerged, but I don't feel trapped, as the earth feels as if it's part of my own body.

I remember your words, and after becoming submerged, I then imagine the earth like some sort of goo allowing me to movie my arm up easily through the earth reaching towards the clone above me.

I place my hands firmly on his legs, and pull him down into the earth, and by using the opposite force of which is resisting him going into the earth, I pull my self upwards and out of the ground; in exchange, letting the clone become buried.*

Very well done. To mold earth is also a lot like to become one with it. You will find that many Earth techniques require you to go underground, so begin to get accustomed to it soon.
Furthermore, this jutsu can only be done in short range. Once you trap your opponent, he should be completely immobilized so it would be easy for you to finish him off.
(Doton: Shinju Zanshu no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Double Suicide Decapitation Technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user, emerging from the ground below the target area, pulls down the opponent so that only their head is above ground. Unable to move, the opponent can easily be decapitated or tortured.
Let us move on. Using the same concept you used to create your dagger, I want you now to create a staff out of this small rock here Remember to channel your chakra through it and "mold" like clay.
After you create that staff, proceed to throw it at my wooden target dummy here.

What other ways could you utilize such a weapon?

*I place both my hands firmly onto the rock, and focus carefully, as I channel my chakra into the rock. As I do this, I imagine a long, cylindrical object in my mind, and use both my hands to pull outwards forming an averaged sized staff out of the rocks as if it were some sort of mould. I then turn my attention towards the wooden dummy, and fixate on it, and I pull back my arm and throw the staff forward hitting the wooden dummy.*

Well Sensei, you could hold the staff at both ends right in front of you to block an attack. Or, if the staff was long enough, you could use it to quickly jump over a large height if you had a lot of momentum, as it would be done in Pole Vaulting.

Ah, pole vaulting, I actually have not thought of that! xD
Okay, let's discuss close combat a bit.
Say that you were locked in a close range fight with me, where would you strike me first with that staff to deal the most impact?

I guess the place I would his first would be the side of your arms since I would get a lot of momentum by swinging from the side, as there would not be enough space to hit your chest or stomach.

Very good. Imagine you and an opponent both holding a staff with two hands, locked against one another, balancing enough weight so that you guys are basically equal in power, pushing against one another.
You can then release your power, forcing him to tumble towards you so that you can strike his chest, but your idea of hitting his arms was also great.
(Doton: Gansetsukon) - Earth Release: Rock Section Cane
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary/Offense
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: 20
Description: This technique allows the user to take a small chunk of rock and turn it into the shape of a staff. The user can then use it as a melee weapon or throw it with pinpoint accuracy at their opponent. A variation of this technique allows the user to create several staffs and launch them at the target, but with less accuracy.
Moving on. Once again, we'll be dealing with the technique of releasing your chakra into the ground.
For this jutsu, I would you like to send your Earth chakra into the ground and then focus on lifting sections of the Earth to move them around my clone.
Think of my clone as the hot dog and your rocks as the bun. Once you think you have stable control of the Earths you have gathered, smash my clone together.

*I imagine the scenario!*

*I begin by focusing, and sending my chakra into the earth below me. I try to relate the technique to my everyday life; toast popping out of a toaster comes to mind! By focusing on the mental image, I then gain full control over my chakra and the earth and for two slabs off the ground. I focus hard, at which point, the slabs almost become my second pair of hands, at which point and slam both slabs inwards crushing the clone between*

O_O To be honest, never used a toaster before. xD
Well done, so what would be the impact of using this on a real human body? Also, how fast do you control this move?

Haha, no worries sensei!

Well, the technique would certainly crush the opponent and break some of his bones, and dependant on his positions, his vital organs could possibly become damaged! The speed would depend on the size, larger slabs would have a larger surface area and larger air resistance so they would be slower to move inwards, but on the contrary, the larger the slab, the longer it would take for the victim to escape. So all in all, I think you would control this technique very fast due to the amount of chakra and effort you would put in.
