I don't see how it would decrease the amount of time that he can stay in a body. That would seem detrimental to himself. I think that the DNA would allow him to stay in the body longer due to the body being stronger and being able to hold a foreign soul more steadily.

Shisiu's KA 10 year time limit was a disadvantage, it shortened it and turned it into an advantage.

Madara was about to die after his battle, Senju DNA saved his as$ and prolonged his life. Again, turned disadvantage into an advantage.

In Orochimaru's case it wouldn't shorten the three years, how would that be an advantage for him if his body starts rejecting him sooner?!

I don't think he necessarily means it decreases the amount of time he can stay in a body. I believe he's saying the DNA decreases the amount of time he needs to wait in order to use the Body Transfer technique that he can otherwise only use once every few years.

This would benefit him because his primary objective is still to steal Sasuke's body.

Really good ideas and analysis but you made a mistake that led you the wrong way....Orochimaru's transfer technique did not require 3 years to be used...That was the time a host body could hold his soul before rejecting him so he had to jump to another host.....During those 3 years he prepared a new host body...That was clearly stated by Kabuto when the Sasuke retrival arc when he told him that that body was already rejecting him so they need sasuke really fast.....There is a hole though because sasuke would need to mature the curse seal he had but thats the plot they need sasuke's body lol......Another time where this was clearly stated was before sasuke took on Orochimaru in the Shippuden part you can go to those specific episodes and you will see those facts....Anyways good thinking of yours

Can you link me the manga page where it says it is Hashirama chakra in specific that is keeping Madara alive?

Plausible, seeing as Zetsu hasn't shown to age. You should write a contending theory on this. I'd love to read it.

Danzo used Kotoamatsukami on Mifune and Ao spotted it. If you follow the numbers in the thread (they're manga links) you will see what I'm talking about.

Also the speculation that he said he could use it in his fight with Sasuke in the end (due to his removal of his right eye bandage) and Obito suggesting that he probably could as well further more helps my theory.
