Shimazu Toyohisa, while involved at the Battle of Sekigahara, manages to mortally wound Ii Naomasa, but is critically wounded in the process. As he walks from the field wounded and bleeding, Toyohisa finds himself transported to a corridor of doors, where a bespectacled man at a desk waits for him. This man, Murasaki, sends Toyohisa into the nearest door where he wakes up in another world. There, Toyohisa meets other great warriors like him who have been transported as well, to be part of a group known as "Drifters". This world contains both native humans and a number of fantastical races, including elves, dwarves, and hobbits. However, the world is at war, with the humans waging a losing war against another group of great warriors, the "Ends", who wish to take over the world and kill all of the Drifters. Under the Ends' command are many terrible creatures, including dragons, which they use to destroy everything in their wake. At the start of the series, the Ends' army has control of the northern part of the continent, and are currently trying to invade the south through a pivotal fortress at the northernmost tip of a nation called Carneades. Meanwhile, the "Octobrist Organization", a group of human magicians native to this world, attempt to bring together the many individual Drifters to save their world from the brutal Ends.

Kouta Hirano, famous for his manga series called Hellsing is now making a brand-new anime known as Drifters

What do you think?

I read the manga a few weeks back and I really like it, well what there was of it. It was very well done, and I liked the action scenes as well as the plot and comedic value the manga had. It's good to know it'll have an anime adaptation as I was looking forward to both more manga and a possible anime adaptation.

I will most definitely be reading more, and watching the anime when it comes out.

I started reading the manga a few months ago as well since I enjoyed reading Hellsing.

Sadly my friend tells me that Drifters has a very, very slow update pace (and supposedly that's how it was with Hellsing when it was ongoing too) so that's gonna be a pain for me. But it's a pretty good manga, it has a lot of potential but it hasn't gotten too far yet. Looking forward to the rest though.

I started this manga a while back, although it's not as good as Hellsing imo.

The story is a little too confusing and the main character doesn't feel like a main character imo

it's still interesting, mainly the historical aspect.

I'm honestly really just reading to find out who the Black King is......I think it's jesus lol

I read it back a few years ago, the premise was good and it seemed interesting at the moment, but after a few chapters I felt like it didnt have the charm to keep me entertained like other manga, needless to say I dropped it.
I actually didn't know that this was done by the author of Hellsing, which is kind of cool I guess.

I think it's too early to decide how good Drifters is. Drifters honestly has the potential to be better than Hellsing but right now I'd personally give it a 7/10, whereas I gave Hellsing an 8/10. Only thing is that the release pace is very slow and it's still quite early in its story. To be fair I actually thought Hellsing was pretty average at first too and it wasn't until the later stages where things really got intense that I finally felt like I was enjoying it.

Drifters has potential but it's way too early to say "Hellsing is better" or anything like that because it's only a few volumes in. I'd say something that makes me think of a Fate x Hellsing crossover has the potential to be something truly glorious........with time. Too early to say so far.
