Thanks. ^_^ Just going to attempt a bit of roleplay, not very good but meh. xD

As per sensei's commands, I immediately draw back from my original position, retreating to around the brink of short range of his location. Ready to initiate this jutsu, I glared at my sensei, letting out a hint off a smile to advertise my readiness. Upon this expression, I begin to stand still, completely motionless, almost dead some may say, but the wind continued to behave naturally swaying across my presence, coming in contact with my tender skin and almost relieving me off my concentration, but even with the temptations to stop, I persisted until I fully harnessed my doton chakra. Keeping my composure, I then channel this newly formed chakra through towards the ground, thus allowing me to possess the ability to control and manipulate the section of ground I channeled this substance into. Acting upon sensei's instruction, I lift a particular section of the ground, and then manipulate it's movements by directing it towards the clone, sensei had set up for learning purposes. Immediately upon reaching this figure with it's high velocity, it encircles him and then instantaneously crashes from either side of him, resulting him to be immobilised, meaning his natural physical abilities are rendered useless.

Great emphasis upon the size and the speed! =D It would indeed take up more chakra and effort in order to smash a guy within a large scale jutsu. However, let's discuss range a bit.
Short range is 0-5 meters, mid is 5-15 meters, and long is 15-25. This jutsu is able to go up to long, so you can actually do a lot more with this jutsu rather than just crashing your opponent. By creating huge pieces of rocks, you can basically have a good control of the battlefield. Like I said, Earth allows for creativity, so the only limit is your own imagination and chakra, of course.

Description: After performing the Rat hand seal, the user to control multiple sections of rock and move them around their opponent. The user then forms two gigantic sections that crush the opponent.

For this next jutsu, it would require some concentration as you did for the earth-sinking one earlier. Begin by channeling your chakra into the earth around you and as you do so, change the chakra within the earth from hard to soft. This will then allow you to dig into the earth.
Once you have done this, I will then send a shadow clone to a different location above the surface. When you come up, tell me where he has gone to.
Remember to try and detect him using your chakra while underground. Become one with the Earth.

As I finish listening to Sensei's instructions, I nod tentively, unsure of what he may expect of my first attempt at this overly common jutsu. As I let this motion to sway past me, I retreat to around the borders of short/mid range, to provide myself reasonable space to work with. Once I have finished positioning my body, I begin to focus my chakra, gradually harnessing the doton chakra to it's utmost potential. Upon doing so, I channel this substance into the rigid ground beneath me, allowing the doton chakra to surge through the cores of this soil, as this process has concluded, the ground's properties change drastically into a an almost tender structure. Then, due to almost fusing with the doton in the surroundings, I allow myself to almost blend together within this delicate ground and then dig to a considerable distance. As I do this, I am able to decipher all substances' chakra connected to the surface above me, therefore without hesitation, I point out the shadow clone's location and launch my body at his.

Perfect! =D And after burrowing deep into the earth, there is also no trace of you left behind on the surface. This move is EXCELLENT in escaping most elements except for Lightning and some Water moves. Otherwise, keep in mind that you can travel through the Earth with this move and escape jutsus too.

(Doton: Moguragakure no Jutsu) – Earth Release: Hiding like a mole technique

Description: The user changes earth into fine sand by channeling chakra into it, allowing the user to dig through it like a mole. While underground one can sense what is happening on the surface and use the information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. Once can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy cant reach. It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where the user entered the earth.

Now...
I want you now to begin sending your Earth Chakra throughout the ground. I will place a clone several meters away from you. When your chakra reaches my clone, control the earth around my clone to channel upwards, thus creating spikes around my clone to stab him. O_O

As I hear the instructions with switched on ear, I begin to concentrate a fair amount of chakra and as the amount become adequate to initiate this jutsu, I begin to channel the substance throughout the core of the ground beneath. As I am within this motion, I notice Sensei's body replicated within several meters away from my vicinity. As this chakra conveys itself towards the dummy, I control this portion of the earth and protrude spikes from within it's structure, causing the opponent's body to be severely harmed due to to the sheer stealth of this jutsu.

Now, proceed to place your hands upon the surface of the earth and then sending a violent wave of chakra over it so that you cause a small earthquake.
