•I would send chakra into the ground and begin to flow it through. As I move the chakra around, I mold the chakra into earth and soften it until its mud. As I am softening the earth, I would also be increasing the speed and ferocity of the flow. Making it more deadly.
•For spikes, I would simply send chakra into the ground and mold the earth into spikes. Once the spikes are created, I would have chakra underneath the spikes propel the spikes out of the ground.
•Just like the spikes, I would send chakra into the ground and mold the earth around into large sections. Using chakra, i would move around the sections of earth o trap the enemy, or protect me from something.
•Again, like the ones above, I would send chakra into the ground and mold a large chasm. Now I can either (I think) lift it up above ground using chakra, or move the earth around it away as to make a chasm under ground level

Alright that was fair, just a little note though, all these techniques involve the manipulation of earth directly. Now I personally believe one should be directly in contact with the earth if they're going to manipulate it for whatever purpose, whether it be to turn it into mud or create entities from the earth. Though I believe this, I believe it's allowed for one to use techniques like these while they aren't connected to the ground. Jiraiya used his Swamp of the Underworld while he was on top of Gamabunta which is generally the example used when people try to justify it. However when somebody is airborn or whatever, I just feel they shouldn't be able to use these types of Earth Techniques. It's not so realistic, however you can disregard this, this is just something I've noticed. Some techniques, however, you will probably need to be connected in some way to do them but I wouldn't know which techniques necessarily so I generally play the safe card and stay grounded when I used such techniques.

Now for specifics, with the first task you're essentially manipulating the structure of the earth to change it from a solid to a liquid like state for the mud property and you're causing it to flow like a river.

the other three are alright, but you seem a little unsure about the chasm technique so I'll clear it up. I took this from an actual technique, it's the technique used by Yamato during the Itachi Pursuit arch when the group sent after Itachi had to part the forest that was scorched with Itachi's Amaterasu. The ground does actually rise up and split in two creating the chasm. As best to my knowledge you'd raise the ground for this. Any questions before we proceed?

-The Advanteges of this Method: Being able to use these techniques while at a distance is a big advantage. Also, becuase I would be manipulating the actual environment, thats in it entirety is an advantage. Also, I dont have to be close to attack. I know that sounds the same as beofre but instead of creating earth, I use it. Also, in a very rocky area, I could get the upper hand quickly. Lastly, most of these earth techniques are too big to not handle first in the case of the enemy.

-Disadvanteges of this Methods: Disadvantages would include the fact that, Id have to be touching the floor to use these techniques. I cant channel chakra into the ground if Im not touching it. Also, with large scale earth attacks like these, I myself can get caught in them. Thats about all I can think of.

-Strategies using techniques from this method: A lot of people use these types of techniques in collab with water techs right after. Since earths natural weakness is lightning, people use water right after an earth tech so they electrify themself if thedy use lightning. Other strategies include adding water to techniques to change or create mud with certain techniques. Also, using these techniques right after a move is good too. Like using fire or windas a front, then manipulating the ground beneath the enemy to throw them off.

Everything seems alright.

To speak on your advantages, I personally agree with this sentiment, however, there are cases that have been seen where environmental based techniques do not require one to be touching the ground to use said techniques, so in the RP people use that as justification to be able to use these techniques even if their several feet in the air. It's backed by some but not me personally. As well, as it's back by some (mods and sensei) it's also objected by some other mods or sensei I believe, just as I so in the essence of safety I'd recommend that you use these techniques when you know they are a definite use.

Now for your strategies, the whole water and earth thing to prevent electricity is a nice idea, however, it's not always the best way to defend. By combining water and earth one creates the pseudo element of mud which will generally suffer from the weakness of the earth release since it's more dominant imo. Now, water techniques that follow earth techniques (but aren't necessarily combining with them) is alright, however it opens the users to use their own earth techniques in conjunction with Lightning what this does is two things:

1) it prevents the water from being a threat as Earth>water

2) The combination of earth and lightning, a less talked about combination due to their natural disadvantages, is a very good combination. Earth, like water, is a conductor. It's also a possible reasonable justification as to why earth release is weak against Lightning (since it breaks the earth up and the earth as a natural conductor, lightning naturally is grounded) so it can create a very strong "x"-rank+"y"-rank combination where as if you combine water and earth to give the rank+rank advantage you get mud. The water+earth liquid combo vs. the lightning+earth solid combo will win every time and it's a possibility to use against opponents who would use an earth backed by water. Now this isn't accounting for specific time frame situations or specific techniques, obviously those are variables but, provided all things symmetrical with frame and time this is a likely counter to the Water+earth combo against the chances of lightning.

Now, that being said Earth+Wind defends against lightning. Wind will diffuse the lightning and, if you use against techniques with projectiles (this would fit more for the first method we used, idk if we went through that or not) this gives you another chance for rank+rank I believe. The velocity generated by the wind's speed will most definitely an added bonus. You create faster projectiles and the more velocity the more power

Another method, which I just got through with (if you're worried about lightning) Earth+Lightning. You can never go wrong with the straight and up cancel or addition. Now, a problem that may occur (I say may as this last effort is only a theory for me I haven't been in a situation to try it). Earth<Lightning=Lightning If you use Lightning against a Lightning and Earth Combo, with the Lightning have equivalence to the lightning and earth as the earth's weakness to lightning will cause it to require less effort to defeat that earth half and you can cancel out the equal lightning half? That's a counter theory to my original theory, however I don't necessarily believe it. I feel that the two equivalent lightning ranks will clash and cancel while the earth remains unharmed, or, in the least it's still strong enough to damage.

Idk, that's just my opinion on it. Now, any questions or comments before we proceed?

Alright, now we're going to go into the next method.

Method 3: Advanced Conversions

This method is just like the last one, however, it involves changing the structural foundation of the earth as opposed to where previously, we were just focusing our chakra into the ground to create/manifest entities or manage techniques. These techniques in this method involve channeling one's chakra into the earth and changing the substance to create mud, sand, gravel, etc. These techniques fall into a different category than the previous method because of the fact that it's changing the substance from pure earth to something more refined our an almost different entity all together, however, still being considered earth.

Questions?

No need for thanks, the job of the teacher is to make sure the information gets to their students and help them understand. If you understand this stuff and it's helping you, than I'm simply doing my job. Thanks though ^^
_________

Now, just like before, tell me how you would perform the following.

  • Convert the ground into mud
  • Convert the ground into Sand as you tunnle

Sorry for the late and sloppy reply. I just moved and got Internet. :shy:
_______

Converting the ground to mud, I would send chakra into the ground and get a hold of the earth. Id soften the earth to the point of mud. Consistency manipulation in a way. So, the area with my chakra is now mud instead of solid earth.

For turning it into sand, I assume I would send chakra into the earth and take hold of pieces of the earth, and then fine tune it in a way. Like, grind it down with my chakra so that it's. sand. For tunneling, I would just do the same except with the ground in front of me.

Hmm, that is sufficient.

Method 3

(Doton: Moguragakure no Jutsu) – Earth Release: Hiding like a mole technique
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Long
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user changes earth into fine sand by channeling chakra into it, allowing the user to dig through it like a mole. While underground one can sense what is happening on the surface and use the information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. Once can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy cant reach. It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where the user entered the earth.

(Doton: Doryū Taiga) - Earth Release: Earth Flow River
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: N/A
Description: After forming the needed hand sealTiger, the user transforms the ground underneath their opponent into a river of mud that throws them off balance and away from the user. The mud created by this technique can also be used as a medium for the Earth Release: Earth Dragon Bullet technique.

(Doton: Doryūsō) - Earth Release: Earth Flow Spears
Rank: B
Type: Offense
Range: Short/Mid
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: 40
Description: The user first performs the Bird hand seal and the user condense mud or stone, from the ground, and shape them into spikes that will protrude from the ground in order to skewer the target. The spikes cannot penetrate targets of greater density.

(Doton: Yomi Numa) - Earth Style: Swamp of the Underworld
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short/Long
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user will first perform Boar → Tiger and then by changing the surface of an object beneath an enemy into mud and creating a non flammable swamp, the user can sink his enemy into the mud. The adhesive, chakra-infused mud ensnares the enemy's body, making it almost impossible to recover one's strength and escape from the swamp. The size and depth of the created swamp depends on the user's skill and the amount of chakra used, but if the user is an expert in this technique, it will always be possible to make a fair-sized swamp which is extremely effective against a great number of enemies or when having to face gigantic creatures.

(Doton: Dosenki) - Earth Release: Mudslide Technique
Rank: A
Type: Offensive
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 30
Damage points: 60
Description: After performing a sequence of three hand seals Dog → Ram → Boar the user then creates a small wall of earth to rise up from the ground infront of them and cause a mud slide to form from the wall and directs it towards the enemy target/s to try engulf them.

Any questions? If not, you know what to do.

Sorry for the late reply. :shy:
___________

Advantages: Well, some obvious advantages would include the actual earth changing. I can soften the earth beneath me so I can travel or protect myself in the earth. Also softening the earth beneath someone to trap them in mud. The opposite is also true. Hardening soft pieces of earth is advantageous as well. Being able to use the mud as weapons can give a quick edge in a battle.
Disadvantages: There aren't too many disadvantages with this technique. I'd have to be touching the ground but that's about it. Everything else is pretty safe.
Strategies: Like I said earlier, trapping the enemy in mud so it gives an opening. Also, using fire or water to naturally harden or soften the mud can work as well. Like trapping them in mud and then using fire to solidify it or using water to increase the flow and viscosity.

Excellent. This method gives you versatility with manipulating the earth. You aren't just bogged down with utilizing solid earth, you can freely change the consistency of the earth for your whims.

As for your disadvantages, I have to agree, there are few (that I could find) with this type of manipulation other than you'd need to be connected to the ground in order for them to work. That and possibly the fact that you may open your earth techniques to alternative weaknesses that once were not an issue. That may not be so much the case with these techniques, however, any other sort of techniques like customs that use such a method of alternative release, could prove to have that problem.

Alright Time for the Final method.

Method 4: Other

Basically, these are techniques that don’t fall within the above listed categories. These techniques may possess similar qualities to the techniques in some of the other methods, however, for the most part they are more unique in their abilities and aren’t classifiable in this system together in other methods.

I'm going to be going about this last method, a bit differently than the others since there are no consistencies I can ask of you here. before I do, do you have any questions about anything?

Alright, instead of asking you to do advantages and disadvantages I want you to describe the four techniques I bolded and how you would perform them. I'll then do the remaining techniques. After that I'll have one last test for you and then we'll have completed your training ^_^ You're going to be a Ginny pig

(Doton: Dochū Eigyo no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Underground Projection Fish Technique
Rank: C
Type: Defence/Supplementary
Range: Short/Long
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: N/A
Description: Using this jutsu, a person can hide underground until they're ready to attack an opponent. By utilizing earth-chakra, the person can stealthily emerge from the ground without disrupting the ground around him. This jutsu can also be used to avoid incoming jutsus.

(Doton: Iwagakure no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Hiding in Rock Technique
Rank: B
Type: Defence/Supplementary
Range: Long
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: N/A
Description: This is a technique that allows its user to blend into rocks and then move in and out of other rocks undetected.
Note: Can only blend through on B rank and below Earth Techniques

(Doton: Nentsuchi Otoshi) – Earth Release: Sticky Earth Drop
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short – Mid
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user creates an opening within the sky, which drips down onto the opponent a large amount of mud, covering them. It’s normally followed up by Lightning release: sixteen pillar bind to create a giant oven around the opponent and then using Fire release: Firing biscuit technique to ignite the oven, hardening the mud and immobilizing the enemy target.

(Doton: Otoshibuta) – Earth Release: Dropping Lid
Rank: B
Type: Attack
Range: Short-Long
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: 40
Description: The user creates a giant, boar-shaped, earthen lid high in the air that falls on the target, trapping them underneath.

(Doton: Denki Iwabashira) - Earth Release: Electric Rock Pillar
Rank: B
Type: Offensive, Supplementary
Range: Short - Mid (Short for electric bolts)
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: 40
Description: The user will make a set of four hand seals and then will place their hand on the ground to create a pillar of earth rise up from the ground. This pillar is also given a electrical charge that causes electric bolts to emit from the pillar up to short range shocking any targets in the vicinity.

(Doton: Kajūgan no Jutsu): Earth Style: Added Weight Rock Technique
Rank: A
Type: Offensive/Defensive
Range: short
Chakra cost: 30
Damage points: 60
Description: By performing the snake hand seal the user will use this technique to petrify whatever or whoever is touching them, causing the object in question to start to crumble. Due to essentially being turned to stone, the affected target considerably increases in weight. The afflicted person or object of this techniques effects increases their power by +10 to techniques but reduces their speed.
Note: The target stays petrified for 1 turn.

(Doton: Chō Kajūgan no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Super Added Weight Rock Technique
Rank: S
Type: Offensive
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 40
Damage points: 80
Description: A more advanced version of the Earth Release: Added Weight Rock Technique, in which the user drastically increases the weight of any object in direct physical contact, but to a much greater extent than that of the original ability. Under certain circumstances, the technique can be used to increase the force behind attacks.
Note: Note: The Initial effects last for 1 turn before the weight of the mass is returned to normal.

(Doton: Keijūgan no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Light Weight Rock Technique
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 30
Damage points: N/A
Description: Contrary to the Earth Release: Added Weight Rock Technique, instead of making an object heavier, this technique makes an item in direct contact with the user much lighter. This allows freer manipulation of the affected objects, which would normally carry considerably more weight and as such, require a greater amount of exertion to move. The user if using this technique on a incoming object would still be affected by the momentum of the force but will not gain full damage due to drastically decreasing the weight. This technique can be applied to the user himself or another person to reduce their weight and making them faster, however the downside is that their physical strength of the person who is affected by this technique is reduced by -10 damage.
Note: The initial effects last for 2 turn before the weight of the mass is returned to normal.

(Doton: Chōkeijūgan no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Earth Release: Super Light-Weight Rock Technique
Rank: S
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 40
Damage poitns: N/A
Description: A more advanced version of the Earth Release: Light-Weight Rock Technique, in which the user drastically decreases the weight of any object in direct physical contact, but to a much greater extent than that of the original ability. The user if using this technique on a incoming object would still be affected by the momentum of the force but will not gain full damage due to drastically decreasing the weight.
Note: The Initial effects last for 1 turn before the weight of the mass is returned to normal.

Ok no problem. ^_^
Ok so, for the first two techniques, they're very similar. It would involve me synchronizing or resonating my chakra with the grounds' as I soften it and begin to "become a part of it" in a sense. Sort of like the hiding like a mole technique. Actually, I would assume almost exactly like it. But I would keep doing this until my whole body is in the earth. I would use chakra to move around in the earth without detection and what not.
As for the second two techniques, they're very similar as well. I think to use these techniques, I have to touch something or someone. Then, once the contact has been made. I send chakra through my arm and into their body. I think I would use the chakra to either negatively or positively affect the weight of the person but on a substantial level. Like, they'd be as light as a feather or heavy to the point that they can't move. I think T_T

Ahh yes. I. Just reread it. So I guess the crumbling thing. I would take my chakra and use it to turn whatever I put it into, into stone. I would perform the snake handseal and transfer my chakra into my target. I would then use my chakra to turn whatever it is into stone by solidifying the chakra from inside the target, then increasing the weight.

The thing with the added weight technique, at least to my understanding, is that you have the choice weather or not to add the petrification factor in there. You are allowed to use the technique on yourself to further increase your weight but that doesn't mean you petrify yourself in the process. We saw this technique done with Oonoki on the Zetsu spores and we also saw him use the stronger version on Muu. He didn't turn Muu into stone when he did it (although would've been a smart idea since that guys was causing some major problems but I digress). I just wanted you to keep an eye out for that detail about the jutsu. Any other questions before I top this off?
