Madara and Hashirama may be friends from the lastest chapter that came out but remember. The leaf village was formed due to Madara and Hashirama finally getting tired of battling one another and losing there kin. I see a lot of threads talking about how hashi and madara were always friends but that's not the case at all. To stay true to his original plot im certain something happens that forces hashi and madara to war with one another intensely before they create the leaf village.

So far people are assuming hashi and madara were friends and made the leaf which is not true at all.

Earlier in the series it states that the truce was made after Hashi and Madara got tired of countless battles with one another.

Zetsu is made up of Hashi's DNA. Itami and Hashi share similar DNA, so that's why Zetsu looks like Itami's hair.

Madara may not consider Hashirama a friend, but Hashi considers Madara a friend. Similarly, Naruto has a one sided friendship with Sasuke.

The way I see it, something must have happened for Madara to have become so bitter. As he states himself in this latest chapter, Madara (at a young age) would prefer for all sides to reach common ground. The Madara since the Hashirama fight is different. Up to now, Madara has only been portrayed as a warmonger. Therefore, the heart changing event must have taken place prior to the famed Madara vs Hashirama fight.

One reason would be that, as he also stated himself, Madara felt betrayed by his comrades for accepting a truce (most probably because his remaining brother had just lost their lives) and decided to take vengeful actions.
