for me it's simple, when i have true feelings about someone it is serious, even if i know him for a day or 2. It is the feeling that counts not how we label our relationships, all kinds of them not only the romantic ones.

Anyhow, i am against generalizations, everyone is different. For example when i like someone i don't ignore him, but some of my friends (girls) do ignore the ones they like but out of shyness; it's not a game or a trick or anything like this.
The game comes into play when you know the other one likes you and he/she knows also you like him/her That's the real deal for me ^^

my point is simple
i know my personality, that is i get numb skull or cold hearted at times specially times where i need my mind\heart etc, so its obviously better for me to have a non-serious relationship ;p
